The good question is where to start. At first, everything seems nice and fine, but then as soon as you order a drink, disappointments begin. We (three good friends) ordered one specific plum brandy, so that the waiter could nonchalantly bring us another and mutter along the way that ours is out of stock, but the one he brought ''is just fine'', without even asking us if we wanted it.
We asked if their perch was fresh, to which the waiter replied in the affirmative way. We ordered grilled perch, and he told us that he would bring us a few catfish fillets with it. We asked why, to which he replied that the catfish was extraordinarily delicious. As a side dish, we ordered French fries and one Sopska salad and one lettuce. - About 15 minutes later, the waiter brought us 3 catfish fillets (together about 400 grams). The catfish was fine and we quickly ate it as an appetizer. Then we waited another 20 minutes for two large grilled perch to arrive (together a little over a kilo). The waiter deboned our perch and left. We tried it and all three of us agreed that perch is stale and that we could easily have severe food poisoning (it is known how dangerous fish poisoning is). We called the waiter and returned the fish to him, to which he said the fish was fine and how he would check with the cook. He returned very quickly and said that the cook also confirmed the freshness of the fish, but he can still bring us 3 more catfish fillets. We agreed, very reluctantly and visibly disappointed. After 15 minutes, catfish and boiled potatoes arrive, which we angrily returned. French fries came when we were almost done with our dinner.
In order to redeem himself and rise in our eyes, the waiter kept repeating how it never happens and offered us some apple cake at the expense of the house. We agreed and got a very mediocre not overly fresh cake. And finally the bill arrives, when it is charged with a catfish and a kilo of stale perch from which we almost get poisoned. Than thing escalated, the waiter convinced us how he changed it and measured it like a catfish. To repeat, we got 2 times 3 pieces of catfish (2 x 400 grams, i. e. 800g all together which CAN NOT be the same as 1.1 kilo of perch). We paid only to get out of that S**THOLE as soon as possible.
To make the end sweeter, we went to the toilet, whose condition was desperate, everything smelled of urine and was sticky, so we immediately flew out without thinking! Bottom line!

Read moreI'm at Paša for the first time with my two sons. This is a cosy place in Zemun, a boathouse restaurant on the Danube river right across the Great War Island. The interior is fitted with wood and brick, with ordinary but comfortable wooden tables ansd chairs. There's a large terrace and in the summer, having lunch on the river under a cool breeze is generally one of the best experiences in Belgrade. The service is impeccable. The waiters are friendly and unintrusively chatty, stirring just enough conversation to make you feel comfortable and welcome. The music played right now are some gentle strings, nicely meshing with the conversations of a polite and relaxed crowd in an almost full place. We had a fish soup/stew, among the better ones in Zemun, but lacking more variety of fish in the boil. We followed up with a T-Bone steak medium to well done. It was very solid, marinated in the right amount of spiced olive oil and with a garlic marinade on the side. I ad a glass of red wine, a Merlot by the Belo Brdo winery, a good table wine to accompany the meal. The french fries were perfect, but the lettuce had a tad more vinegar in it than necessary. You would have to ask for less seasoning when ordering salads. All in all, well worth visiting, as Paša primarily offers specialty dishes made of river fish, which should be a...

The team at Pasha has been together for a long time, and that shows—in the service, the energy, and the unmistakable charm of Zemun hospitality at its finest.
The terrace is beautifully positioned and tastefully arranged. It’s definitely the better spot to sit, though the interior is by no means unpleasant.
Food-wise, the specialty is perch (smuđ)—either served whole or prepared in the traditional Smederevo style. But what might surprise you is the quality of the grilled meat. Made according to grandpa Ćira’s recipe, it’s consistently excellent.
It’s true that prices have gone up, in line with broader trends. A quality lunch with drinks for two will cost around 7,000 RSD. Whether it’s worth it is up to you—but we still keep coming back, just a bit less often...
