Le Cardinal Restaurant — Restaurant in Mahé

Overall, a pleasant experience at le cardinal for both breakfast and dinner. Breakfast is standard, same options on a daily basis, could do with more variation. The pancakes, waffles and eggs are made to order which is lovely. A good range of tea and coffee options were included. A good variety of fresh fruits always available but at times left open by other guests. Some breads were also left open by guests which is then fed on by birds. The iced tea is a winner, very refreshing.

Dinner options were somewhat limited. Its a different theme every night (italian, asian etc) but a very limited set menu. Italian was our favourite, great quality food. The creole lamb curry was also special!

**for the half board option, we found it surprising soft drinks and water are not included and are chargeable including a 10% service charge for just a can of coke. 1 can of coke is equivalent to £6 including service charge.

The food overall at Le Cardinal was always fresh and was delicious. My husband and I stayed at Fisherman’s Cove for 6 nights and enjoyed breakfast daily and dinner on 3 nights. The host Le Cardinal was a lovely man who always greeted my husband and I with a smile, and always looked out for our well being. This is especially important for us black travelers— most times we as black people are not paid attention to and ignored in restaurants and hotels whereas white people receive all the attention and good service.

Unfortunately though, at Fisherman’s Cove, we did experience moments where some staff didn’t extend attention to us as we witnessed them give to white patrons welcoming them with warm smiles. An excellent restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere and fantastic food. Absolute enjoyment with a varied buffet in a beautiful location. The staff are very attentive and friendly.
