Just as the Picture..you will fall in love with their food....Delicious, Scrumptious, Tasty authentic flavour full food..wow..!!!
Being a Madurai descendent .we love to eat...my taste buds were longing to try their authentic food for a long time ..after hearing their reviews...today was the D-Day
Started with Lollipop Chicken , Dragon Chicken(Chinese New year special)..My kids loved it..the masalaās were just right..not spicy..so you can actually relish the food..the lollipop chicken crust was perfect not too thick not too thin..(cannot find this perfection in SINGAPORE anywhere else)
Main course : We had their authentic seeraga sambha mutton dum biriyani..so many boneless pieces in small sizes as we dig in..very happy customer ..biriyani was full of flavour..a absolute winner..!!! and we had kongunadu chicken curry a unique taste..just yummy..!!!
Will be a regular from now on..š
Highly Recommended..!!!!
The standout dish of the day was the kola urundai(fried meat balls) ..the crust was so thin and the meat was cooked to perfection..such that it dissolved in the mouth..Madurai Kaaranuku..this was being in heaven..hmm..!!!
Note: you want your dishes a bit spicy..please let them when you order..
17.07.22 - Review Update
Another sumptuous Lunch..
Started off with a Chicken soup.. It was full of flavour.. The chicken essence combined with the fresh pepper and spices..garnished with finely chopped coriander leaves..was just heavenly..made my day.. My kids loved the soup with the small size tender chicken pieces which came with it.. If u have a cold or running nose this is the best natural remedy u can get..
Tried the Nellai chilli chicken.. Ordered twice.. Soft tender pieces with the right amount of spice justifying its name.. Kids loved it with parotta.. The capsicum and onion was cramalised with the spices.. Complemented the tender chicken
Looking for the best lollipop chicken in town.. They are the best.. Still maintain the right crispness.. Reviewed last time.. Quality is still the ISO standard š
Finished with the coconut soufflĆ©.. It Just dissolved in the mouth š..the sweetness in Singapore Slang is "Just Nice".. Bought 1 first and ended up ordering 3 piecesš
The quality has not changed since the last visit.. Keep up the good work..š

Those 3 words sum up the food and experience of Machan's Kitchen. From the moment I stepped into this restaurant the SUPERB evening began and made my visit to Singapore 10 times better!. Only had a short time to spend in Singapore but this is definitely a must for any tourist! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
CUISINE - The food being as authentic as you can possibly get reminded me of the food my grandma would make back in India. The Biryani was the highlight for me personally, the rice cooked just perfectly with the spices infused in PURE HARMONY! It was like getting a taste of food from heaven.
Another favourite of mine in the evening was the Parotha with chilli paneer, Ive grown up eating this dish my entire life and have a profund liking for indian food, tasting it wherever I travel but I must say this was the BEST Parotha dish I have ever tasted in my life!
Finally to top it of the dessert hit the spot, the Gulab Jamen and coconut pudding was the exact level of sweetness I needed to end the meal with. I plan to bring my girlfriend back next time I visit singapore, everyone needs Machan's food in their life!
SERVICE - The restaurant had a very elegant but homely vibe with the waiters being very friendly and accommodating. They had a very deep knowledge and understanding of all the dishes. The food arrived in a timely manner all together for the group of us. This is something I especially liked as many restaurants struggle however Machan's executed this impeccably. The waiters were attentive and made sure to keep all our curries and side dishes topped up if needed. FIRST CLASS SERVICE
THOUGHTS - Out of the 7 days in Singapore, this was the FINEST MEAL I had there by far. Singapore is known for a range of excellent foods but Machan's blows away any competition. I plan to bring my girlfriend and one day my kids too! Located at the heart of Little India, MRT station nearby, it is very easy to travel to. As a foodie that's been travelling for the past 2 years, I want to emphasize Machan's is a MUST for any tourist in Singapore!
I'd like to say thank you to all the staff for the AMAZING...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreContemplated very hard on the final star in this review - bottled water was placed on the table beside cups, so we assumed its charge would be a token sum like 50c or $1 - not $1.90++ each. Yes we should have checked, but let's not pretend restaurants often do this to earn some quick bucks off unsuspecting customers. We're here for a meal, to relax, not be on guard with sneaky charges. Just so very tired of restaurants doing this.
That said, we were comped some papadum + chutney, so i didn't raise a fuss about this, and also therefore the review will not go below 4 stars. I would've been happy to pay if told upfront, whether it's papadum or the water - just be transparent from the get-go, please. (I will add back the star as long as someone acknowledges this review. I don't need any comping, just hope that this doesn't happen again to me or anyone else.) Anyway on to the food:
Nearly everything we had was great. Chappati was a bit disappointing because i prefer the slightly more doughy type. But was still mostly soft, with only some of the thinner parts being crispy. Prata was really really good, do order that. Crispy, fluffy, and still chewy - this is my favourite rendition so far.
Came thinking the crab balls (nandu kola urundai) would be the star, but nope, all the rest were SO good, they outshone the balls, I was so pleasantly surprised. Make sure you get the crab soup (nandu rasam), Madurai mutton curry, mutton biryani, prata, chicken keema dosai. Gobi Manchurian was unexpectedly fantastic too, despite my usual disinterested in the Manchurian style/sauce. We also had something billed as "khora chicken", but was apparently an off-menu special for that night. It's a chicken chop fried with a lovely crust of spices, tender and flavourfully seasoned inside.
Half of my party had a heavy and late lunch so they didn't eat too much, with the total being ~$20/person without dessert or other non-bottled-water-drinks. So without dessert or drinks, I'd say expect to spend...
