VíK - Vegan Venue — Restaurant in Bratislava

A friend of mine told me about the place and I was curious to check it out so I went by yesterday. It was everything I expected of a vegan cafe all the way down to the hipster with dreads sitting inside riding away on his bicycle and the beautiful gay couple who stopped in front of the cafe to kiss on the sidewalk. It's lovely to see this part of Slovak life, since most of my colleagues are so conservative I can't talk to them about much more than the weather I'm happy to see this place. The interior design is beautiful, I especially loved the restroom, it's gorgeous. What else do I expect from a vegan cafe? Oh yes! Everyone is a health guru and they all need to tell me about it. Just like how CrossFit people won't stop telling you how awesome CrossFit is and evangelical Christians won't stop telling you how awesome Jesus is, vegans won't stop lecturing you about your health. The customer service is amazing, probably the best I've encountered in Bratislava, but when my water glass has been filled ten times already and I say no thank you, please I've had enough water, I don't need a lecture on how water is good for health. Yes dear, it's 2023 and I voluntarily entered a vegan cafe I probably already know water is good for me. I'm happy that hip, young vegans have a place to feel comfortable, I'm very happy it appears to be a safe space, and I am happy for the experience but the place is not for me. I found this place through the Happy Cow app. This place not just has great food but redefines hospitality! The staff here and super kind and go out of their way to ensure you have a great experience. I was offered water as soon as entered (this is an Indian practice and I really did not expect it in Bratislava!) The staff not just explained that everything on their menu is vegan and also explained the components of the dishes on the menu. The presentation was impeccable as well. Since I was a tourist and only in Bratislava for a day, I asked them for recommendations and the staff took the time to understand my preferences and recommend me accordingly. She very sweetly even wrote it down for me! The food here was so delicious, I got my dinner to-go from them as they close by 4PM. Definitely an experience to remember and would go back in a heartbeat if I ever visit Bratislava again!

Wonderful service with amazing dishes!

We were absolutely blown away by the friendly service we received in addition to the delicious dishes we were served. Probably the friendliest service we'd experienced in Europe so far.

We started with a flat white and a delicious pumpkin spice latte.

My husband had the bagel sandwich which was lovely and the bagel itself was also delectable. I had the yogurt bowl which I appreciated that it included so many different fruits. It was nutritious and yummy.

We got two pastries to go, one a chocolate croissant and another a pistachio flavor - both were decadent and bursting with flavor.

I love and appreciate that they are unapologetically vegan - plenty of wonderful stickers as well, YES!

Selfishly, I wish they had pancakes or waffles 😉
