The performance was beautiful, but ruined by the staff bad attitude. The new theatre does not have enough bathrooms and bars to effectively serve all the customers during the breaks! There were lines worth of 20min (length of the break!) for the female bathrooms and the bar which meant we only could choose one or the other. Stood in the line for drinks for 20min only to be told at the door back to the seats that we cannot take the opened sparkling water bottles in and have to drink them outside. When I went to the bar to ask for a bottle with a lid on, I was told that they don’t have any screw on ones. When I asked why the theatre sells bottles that cannot be taken inside despite such long wait times, the staff replied that “it is not their problem” and to go to speak to the manager. The second act of the performance was already underway so was not worth my time. I have a few recommendations for SND to implement: More bars, serving areas (including on the top floor) More staff to service customers during breaks to shorten the wait times Customer service training that teaches staff that their role is to actually help the customers to have a pleasant experience Plastic / paper cups or bottles that can be taken inside More female toilets Please do not let a bad customer service take away from the amazing performances that happen...
Read moreMy visit to the Slovak National Theater was absolutely wonderful! The building is a beautiful blend of historic charm and modern elegance. I attended a performance of "Madama Butterfly" by Giacomo Puccini, and it was an extraordinary experience. The opera was directed in a modern style, which brought a fresh perspective to this classic piece. I thoroughly enjoyed it!The production quality was top-notch, with captivating performances, stunning set design, and exquisite costumes. The staff were very friendly and helpful, making the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. The acoustics in the theater are fantastic, allowing every note to resonate beautifully. If you're in Bratislava, a visit to the Slovak National Theater is a must for an unforgettable cultural experience. Read moreVisited twice for opera. First time in May everything was great, this time in January the balcony audience' attitude disappointed me: many people were regularly talking during the performance, one person was indiscretly blowing their nose during the opera, several times, never during the intermission, but always during the opera's run.
Quite ironically, local women do love to dress up for opera, many were changing street winter boots for elegant high heels (it's a bit snowy in January). Dear operagoers, please respect the fact that opera is a musical theater, personally I pay money to hear the singing and the music, it doesn't matter how fancy you are dressed if your talking is a source of a constant irritating noise, distracting from the...
