Gostilnica Štrudl — Restaurant in Bohinj

We took an impromptu trip from Portschach Am Worthersee, Austria to see Slovenia and the Savica Falls. After a short hike to the falls we stopped here on our return road trip. The food was great! The saff were very kind. This certainly looked like a place frequented by locals as there were multiple fly fisherman hanging out having a beer after a good day on the water. The menus were easy to navigate in English and their picture book of all their menu options made choosing a local dish stress free. You want to have a smarn (Kaiserschmarn)? At the Strudl you will get one - or better said one for three to four hungry bellies. If you want the smarn as a delicious dessert you should bring five friends to share with. That’s said to the size of the single portion smarn. The taste is really good. It’s juicy and not to sweet. So you could eat all of it if just your stomach would be big enough.

Apparently the supermarket nearby was closed so we got into this small restaurant. I've had my amount of strudels for the past years in Austria and I was dying to try one from Slovenia as well! As it was dinner time we both had our main course first, which was enjoyed properly! Afterwards we had a coffee and a strudel classic for sharing! We both did however shared the opinion of not liking the strudel. Too much unbaked dough and the taste was a bit off. It looked great though! And maybe we had a wrong one.
