Danica Guesthouse — Restaurant in Bohinj

The restaurant was really nice, the atmosphere as well, even though there were a few children running around and the restaurant was packed. The waiter was kind and polite. The prices were a bit on the expensive side. But we wouldn’t mind paying a bit more for a delicious meal. Unfortunately, we were not satisfied at all with what we got. The food was ok at best, I would not order it again.

There was a really massive mistake they made. They gave us bad meat. We ordered the tenderloin of young beef with rolls and breadcrumbs and the meat was not good, ‘as in’ it went bad at some point. It was grainy and it tasted foul. You could see immediately after cutting it there was something wrong with it. We both eat meat, usually medium to rare. We knew immediately something was off. Maybe they didn’t stored it well or it went bed because of some other reason. After informed the waiter, he took the meat to the cook, and after a while in the kitchen, he came back, apologized and said they didn’t know how this could have happened. I think they discounted the dish from the end bill (but am not sure).

We also had some gnocchi with beef in mushroom sauce, the sauce was unpleasantly sour.

And for the desert we had buckwheat rolled dumplings with fruit sauce and dried pieces of apple. They were very compact, it was a bit hard to eat them. But were not bad.

We will unfortunately not come here again. The food...

First off, I don't recognize the complaints some people have about the service here. The waitress was nice and attentive. The food appeared on my table at lightning speed. This was perfectly fine from my experience.

The food here is a different story. I tried the veal stew and the texture was way off. The gravy was runny as a soup; almost as if it hadn't been reduced or thickened at all. All in all, it got the job done. It was a filling meal and it tasted okay.

The food's definitely a bit on the pricey side for what you're getting. If you're able to travel to the next few towns over, you could do a lot better. Other restaurants in this area offer...

If you are looking for a quiet and calm place to stay, in a familiary environment, away from the masses, you definitely should consider to look somewhere else. 140 Euro for a bedroom (modern, clean) and breakfast (local and good but nothing too special, friendly staff) is a lot, when the view out of your window is a huge parking lot (including frequent noises of maneuvering caravans and buses), sport facilities, the restaurants garbage cans and an enormous event hall. We did expect something else, it was not...
