Stari Pisker Tavern and Pub — Restaurant in Celje

Since there is no other way to reply owner on his questions I need to make changes to my first version of review. So, I came with my wife to a dinner to celebrate our 10th anniversary. Service terrible - We waited 15 min. just to get menu and for that time my wife seated on the corner of the table because on the other side were two giant ponds of oil. Just to say that we had an reservation. Later on waiter forgot to bring me my beer so I needed to go inside and like a beggar ask a few of them because there are all busy. Staff without basic knowledge - I asked waiter for wife's steak how many days it was aged. He says 90 days. I asked if he is sure in that. He repeated, it is 90 days aged. Later on, kitchen chef told us that it was aged 3-5 weeks. Steak not edible - On menu customer can choose between 4 types of steak but in reality waiter says that they only have club steaks so my wife took that one. When it came she couldn' t cut it with a knife without using a heavy force. There were three giant pieces of cartilage. We called waiter and told him what is the problem. He went to the kitchen and came with, I suppose chef, who started to explain that there is nothing wrong with that steak (like that was ours first ever steak that we eat). When I told him about not having other types of steak, cutting, cartilage, waiter's 90 days... he asked my wife does she wants file mignon. When her file mignon came my pork ribs were long gone cold, my beer forgotten and our anniversary ruined. So, thank you "Stari pisker"! And know also that we drove from Ljubljana just to be at your restaurant. Shame on you to say that my wife doesn't know how steak should be because she is a woman, she has eaten steaks across the world! Instead of making excuses, better change your manager and check your supplies because it is very unprofessional not having...

I am disappointed. When we were here half a year ago the food was much better and we ordered the same dishes. We ordered meat plate for two and the oreo cheesecake. On the meat plate the beef short ribs today were much thinner and less juicy, but still okay. The chicken wings however we dry, small and without taste. Thats too bad, because the previous time, they were one of the best chicken wings we ever eaten. Before big pieces of tasty meet with golden orange color were now beige colour and overcooked. We didn't complain about them because the cook and the waiters should even serve them as they did looked dry and colorless in the first place. The only thing that did not change were the side dishes that were quite good. The thing that changed the most is the oreo cheesecake. Before it was an actual oreo cheesecake not just a cheesecake with an oreo. The bottom was changed: before it was dark and delicious, made from oreos and butter, now its light, not from cookies, and doesn't tase as well. The white part was now completely white, with no crushed oreos, and without taste. Once the best oreo cheesecake (maybe in the world) is now nothing more than a small piece of bland cake with an oreo on it. The lava cake i ordered was good tho. So good job on that one. With the review i put the pictures for comparison. The waiters were friendly tho and the ambient is still nice. Too bad that the reduction of food quality left us with a bitter aftertaste. We will give the restaurant another shot one day and hopefully the food will be...

Das erste Mal kam ich zum Stari Pisker weil ich ein Video von einem Lokal mit einer Burger Challange gesehen habe auf Facebook. In diesem Video sieht man einen 10 Stock hohen Cheeseburger, welcher auf einem Schwertspieß (damit er nicht umfällt) aufgespickt war und jeder, der dieses Monster um ca. 45 Euro in einer gewissen Zeit verputzt, bekommt ihn natürlich gratis.

Ich habe mich das erste mal am Rückweg von Kroatien hinbegeben und war vom Ambiente alleine schon sehr überzeugt. Außerhalb vom Lokal konnte man im Zetrum vom Celje in der Fußgängerzone sitzen, was natürlich auch heißt, dass man eher noch ohne Reservierung hinkommen könnte, und innen wird man von einer zentralen Bar in einem Gewöbe begrüßt - kurz: das Ambiente ist Hammer. Die Tische sind nah beinander und wenn es voll wird, darf man sogar an der Bar essen - leider gibt es sehr wenig bis gar keinen Platz, wo man es etwas ruhiger hat und man muss damit rechnen, dass man dem Nachbarn sein im Mund zusammenfließendes Wasser wegen der Speißen mitbekommt. fg Deshalb 1 Punkt Abzug - jedoch sonst gefällt mir das Lokal sehr gut - lediglich am Klo sollte man keine Platzangst haben; dieses ist, wie so oft in Altbauten, sehr klein ausgefallen aber schön und sauber.

Die Speißekarte ließt sich wie das Who-is-Who der erlesenen Steakspeißen - und das zu einem annehmbaren Preis. Spätestens wenn man zu den Tomahawk Steaks kommt, welche sehr appetitlich auf einem Brett serviert wird, bis zu 3,5kg (!) haben können und am Tisch sogar flambiert werden nochmal, ist man begeistert und weißt bereits im Vorfeld, dass man wieder kommen möchte.

Bei den Burgern ist es aber nicht anders - ein Burger nach dem anderen - einer klingt leckerer als der andere und man weiß nicht, was man alles bestellen sollte - aber es gibt auch Sandwiches wie zB Lancelot, was im Prinzip nichts anderes ist wie ein ca. 40-50cm langes Baguette lecker belegt mit rosa gebratenem Steak, Salat, Sauce usw.

Bei den Preise muss ich sagen: GÜNSTIG! Warum ist jedoch "Mittel" ausgewählt habe ist leicht erklärt: die Steak Variationen sind doch "etwas" gehoben im Preis auch wenn es perfektestes Beef und DryAge Beef ist. Für diese Qualität muss man natürlich zahlen - keine Frage - aber sonst ist das Lokal für jede Geldbörse erschwinglich und lädt auch ohne Weiteres zu (wie bei mir) Familienausflügen mit Familienfeiern ein. Als Beispiel: 2 Stöckiger Burger "Overdose" mit Double Beef Patty mit Cheddar, Blue Cheese Fondue, Trüffelpaste und gebackenen Zwiebelringen sowie Pommes um 10,90 Euro Filet Mignon mit Rosmarin in Butter, Olivenöl und Knoblauch mit einem Salat, Bratkartöffelchen und Baguette um 9,90 / 100g (je nach Steak, wie in meinem Fall, kann auch diese Portion dann mit 30-35 Euro zu Buche schlagen; jedoch wird man mit einem traumhaften Pfannen-Gericht belohnt, das man so nur sehr selten bekommt).

Das Stari Pisker ist eines meiner absoluten Lieblingslokale geworden. Angefangen von der Location bis hin zu den sehr bemühten und überaus netten und freundlichem Personal ist dieses Lokal wirklich ein Qualitäts-Steakhouse, welches ich noch nicht in Österreich gesehen habe. Was ich jedoch sehr liebe ist die Tatsache, dass die abgebildeten Speißen in der Speißekarte (welche man sich sogar online ansehen kann) WIRKLICH so aussehen, wie abgebildet.

Tipp: wenn man hinfahren möchte und/oder dort jetzt eine Feier plant: unbedingt vorreservieren - je früher desto besser. Das Lokal ist immer voll. Tipp 2: Burger "Overdose" ;-)
