I do not understand the reviews about the owner's attitude but note to self, do not pay too much attention to the ratings as they might be written by the not so sharp tools of the tool box. After looking at the pictures, I trusted my gut feeling and went for this place. He's a pretty down to earth guy that just serves you very good food. Probably the best steak me and my wife have ever had. His wine recommendation were also excellent. We also had breakfast here the same day and we could tell the ingredients they were using were local and of good quality. Do not expect to see a menu here, they only work with what they find fresh which is absolutely respectable. If you need more information like price etc, simply ask. Obviously if you are allergic to something, speak up during the ordering phase, or live with the consequences. We had a rib eye steak excellently medium cooked and a flank steak also excellently medium rare cooked. Both dishes came with very tasty potatoes and grilled veggies. We also had the beef tartar for starter which was also excellent. The portions are quite big, if we knew we might have not ordered a starter but honestly, I'm not going to complain. I'd rather have more food for the price than less, unlike some of those wannabe gourmet serving "chefs" charging 50 euros for half a steak. We don't usually go for dessert but having been amazed by the food so far we went for it. I specifically asked whether the dessert is also prepared by them to which they replied no, it is made from a local shop but they vouched for the quality and taste and if we wouldn't like it, then we wouldn't have to pay it. Needless to say I almost ate the jar that the dessert came in. Fantastically light and nicely sweet n sour fruity dessert. For a finisher we also had two local digestive drinks. They were perfectly explained to us and we knew what we were getting. We were not disappointed.

Read moreI really don't understand the low average grade (3.9) of this restaurant. Most of the descriptions say the food was perfect, photos look great. I suppose the price may be a little bit on the higher end, but hey, inflation in the last two years has done it's job and everything went up. I was here for the lunch with business colleagues and it was very pleasant experience. No complaints whatsoever; the food was great, waiter (maybe owner?) was accommodating and very straightforward. Main course with the salad was meal that I just want when I go to a place for the first time: give me something I haven't tried or eaten yet, something new, expand my horizons. Here it was cooked(and maybe toasted) buckwheat with soy sauce which was not too salty, not overpowering; this dish was greatly balanced. It takes a lot of experience to make it right.
Ribeye steak was grilled medium to well done, and it was perfect. It came pre-cut, it was salted, fat parts were nicely grilled, there were pieces that had crust, and it was not chevy at all. I am an avid eater and I can say that this was very good portion wise, especially with salad (that came pre-dressed with oil and aceto balsamico). Main dish was done technically very well, maybe a peace of broccoli or few pieces of long legume would add some colour and freshness, besides the carrot that was also perfect. A cauliflower mash potato would also add to this dish (just a suggestion). To conclude, this is certainly a place...

Staff is very unprofessional, they are not friendly, they are not fast and they make up their menu on the spot. The owner tries so hard to imitate the chefs that are 100% better than him.
Next - there is no menu… the dude just makes stuff up and prices alongside. Who does that? Total ripoff. If you ask for the menu, he makes fun of you, like you don’t have money or something.
The food is mediocre at best. Some time ago we were told the burgers are best in class with special homemade sauces and whatnot. They’re nothing special. At all. Comparing this to Stari Pisker in Celje or Jack&Joe in Maribor is a joke.
After eating we provided some feedback and here’s the best part. The main chef / owner came out to argue with us 😄 he cannot take anything that’s not a compliment.
I would strongly advise against going to this restaurant. I don’t get who gave this place 5 stars but it’s safe to assume those reviews aren’t genuine.
If you want to eat some decent food, there are plenty of other restaurants nearby, that are 100% better and don’t have greedy owners. Rozika, Ribič, Amadeus, Grabar are...
