Pivnica Zlatorog — Restaurant in Ptuj

Me and my friends got there as we went to check out the castle and we decided to go to a late lunch. First we were turned away as there "were no tables available". We were 3 with a little kid. We saw a table for 3 and asked if we can sit there. She said OK, kinda. This blonde lady wasn't exactly nice.

We waited for the pizza for ages, we were hungry. And then the pizzas finally arrive and... If this historical place has been there since 50 years - is it really hard to brand it as thick dough pizza so that we customers know what we are getting?

We didn't know, so we get the pizza and surprise! The best part of the pizza was the outer side. The dough felt sweet and the cheese was bland. We added ketchup to make it better. My friend got the roman pizza with ham and the ham felt a bit sour. It's 3 hours since and all of us are so extremely thirsty.

To make it short: worst pizza of our lifes, however the service was very friendly, kind, attentive and fast. Another thing: tastes differ and some people might like this pizza style. Long story: I can only agree with the previous speakers that this dish is everything but traditional pizza. As an ignorant person, you could call it "American style". The dough is incredibly thick and partly dry. The cheese seems to be the cheapest discount cheese you can find. The tomato sauce... hard to say anything about it, since it was virtually non-existent. The absolute highlight was that the waitress asked us quite naturally if we wanted ketchup, because she seems to know about the problems with their pizzas (?!?!?!). Maybe they should change the product/recipe if it is not enjoyable and not recommend putting ketchup on it? Not...

WARNING! I am from the socialist block born in socialism [1976], but this was definitely the worst 'pizza' experience in my life. Microscopical fragments of tomato sauce, the cheapest soft salami and cheese, canned mushrooms and vegetables Just to underline the welcoming atmosfere, we were sitting in a separate room at two tables and after 15 minutes of waiting we have been asked to squeeze at one table [8 persons] because someone else may want to sit there. Restaurant was more than a half empty. The table was unoccupied till we left. Of course, I have informed the staff too. They did not care much. They are definitely used to complaints...
