The most old-school, super tasty, home made food you can get in Ljubljana. There are just a few places as good as this one. Actually places like these should get a special protected status (and get a special no-tax benefit treatment from FURS :) :)) , because if they slowly disappear, a part of Slovenia will die out. The food, no matter what you order, is just fantastic.
The only down side is the place, still unventilated and small just like in the old times. Nowadays though it can be a little annoying if after lunch you come back to the office, smelling A LOT like that pork and gravy you had for lunch... It already made us skip the lunch there because we had some meetings after and we didn't want to smell like...
Read moreThis was a great dining experience! The person serving us made our meal - he was very friendly and helped us set up a tasting menu (6 courses) since we were a bit overwhelmed by the menu and new to Slovenian cuisine. We didn’t catch his name, but thank you for a perfect lunch 🙏🏻
Of course not to mention the food was delicious. The price performance ratio was good. Our favorite dishes were the veal tongue, liver, the smoked pork ribs and the struklji. There is a parking lot next to the restaurant for customers which is convenient. We made a reservation via email ahead of our visit, but we saw that many customers were able to walk in as well.

Read moreThe restaurant is a bit off the beaten path, not exactly located in the historic downtown of Lubljana. But this is kind of a blessing since it allows this establishment to retain the atmosphere that it makes it stand out when it comes to tasting wonderful typical food without falling into a torutist trap.
The staff is very patient and courteous, the atmosphere is casual and relaxed, there are a good amount of tables. The food is homemade and very very tasty, in particular the pork ribs and the apricot jam-filled strudel.
Definitely worth taking a detour to stop...
