Overall it's a nice place, the grilled meat and vegetables were pretty delicious. However, I'd like to point some serious deficiencies: Allergen info is not displayed on the menu which I believe should be a must-have for a restaurant like this in 2024. I asked the waiter whether the served ajvar (that I didn't order specifically, but it came with the meat) contains gluten or not, she answered that she believes it is gluten-free. I thanked her the information and started to eat, but a minute later she returned to the table with 2 claritine pills, putting them in front of me saying if it is not gluten-free, then I should take them.
Maybe it was meant to be a nice or funny gesture, but as someone living with celiac disease for more than 2 years I've never experienced something like this before in any restaurant and felt this offensive. It would be great if catering workers were aware of food intolerances, at least 1 person out of the entire stuff, knowing the more serious ones like celiac disease. I think it could help not just restore the reputation of this profession, but help people with food intolerances feel more secure when trying to eat something in a restaurant with their...
Read moreWhile I had hoped for a better experience, especially after giving this place a second chance after 4 years, I was left utterly disappointed. The food, to their credit, was commendable. However, that's where the positives end.
The service was abysmal. It felt as if they were practically tossing the food onto our table. The staff's demeanor was anything but welcoming. On one occasion, I merely asked for a spoon, only to be met with an eye-roll. Such behavior is not only unprofessional but also downright rude.
Despite the crowd, I highly doubt many were returning customers. Their treatment of patrons is a clear indicator of why this might be the case. To add insult to injury, the waiter created an unnecessary fuss about not having the correct change for our bill.
In a world where dining experiences are as much about the ambiance and service as they are about the food, this restaurant sorely misses the mark. I won't...
Read moreDuring my week in Portoroz I have been to this restaurant at least 2-3 times. The reason being is that the food has been very good and the staff is very friendly and are always at your service if you need anything. I ordered the beef, and cream soups (on different occasions). Very decent sizes for the starters. Would highly recommend. I also had the Pizza Nona and the Speghetti Bolognese and both were good. If I had to choose. I would go for the Pizza Nona. It is worth every euro. Their beer and wine selection is not very wide. However, I have tried both their beer and wine and both were very good. In terms of price to quality. I would say it is right in line with what I expected.
I would highly recommend this restaurant if you are in Lucija/Portoroz area and are looking for a nice...
