I really hate to be writing this and I wanted very much to enjoy the food the and experience. However, I found the tiramisu and chocolate mousse cake to be below average. My tiramisu was 90% cream and I frankly felt a bit sick after the whole jar and I LOVE cream. But it felt like I might as well have bought plain cream and ate it. The chocolate mousse cake looks beautiful but all the layers taste the same. It was just regular. Most significantly, the whole experience was rather chaotic and upon entering and trying to talk to the guy at the front desk, he literally acted like we weren’t there with a blank face. He completely ignored us and looked through us. We asked him about an empty table and he was very rude and fake. It was clear he was upset we were walking in 15mins before closing time but the whole shop was full of about 20 people. Both my friend and I left with a sour taste in our mouth after the way he treated us. Honestly, he should not be in customer service as it was clear he was rushing to leave and upset about...
Read moreWe decided to end our Asian-inspired food journey by indulging in Asian-inspired dessert and we looked no further than Cafe Chiffon, a newly opened Asian dessert restaurant in the Waterkant Street.
It is a quaint little space, yet it was bustling with people. We arrived towards the end of the business day, so their was not a large variety of cakes left to choose, but I had a feeling we wouldn't be disappointed. We decided on the Matcha and Blueberry Cream Chiffon and a Earl Grey Chiffon Cake. We began with the Earl Grey, a soft, delicate cake with an incredibly flavourful Earl Grey filling with just a hint of added sweetness. It was really tasty. The matcha and blueberry cream Chiffon was also so light and airy, and also oh so tasty.
The experience of this space did not just end at the taste of the cakes, as we all had the privilege of witnessing the baker effortless prepare several cakes in Mother's Day in her little rainbow studio.
Such a treat to see, and an even better tasting experience....
Read moreCafe Chiffon is a wonderful gem nestled in the bustling city where you can enjoy a delicious drink, treat yourself to an equally delicious as it is beautifully decorsted dessert, and take a moment to unwind in the aroma of freshly baked cakes wafting through the cafe.
An Adorable cafe, minimalist and soothing decor (very Japanese/Korean aesthetic) with scrumptious Asian inspired desserts (think soft, fluffy, and light cakes), a calming ambience, and stellar service. I love that the cakes aren't overly sweet (I recommend the Earl Grey Chiffon and Strawberry Cheesecake!).
There's also a large selection of specialty coffees (highly recommend the Honeycomb latte) and other drinks to go with the desserts.
The owner, Christine, is so lovely and charming, and makes all the cakes herself in-house daily. She also takes custom cake...
