Absolutely Appalling Service at Sea Point Spur - Avoid at All Costs! This has to be, without a doubt, the worst dining experience I have ever had. My family and I visited the Sea Point Spur yesterday at 10.45am and I'm still reeling from the sheer incompetence and lack of professionalism we encountered, primarily from our waiter, Piela, and the seemingly oblivious management.
We were seated immediately, which was the only positive start to a cascade of negatives. Piela arrived 40 minutes later with only half our drinks order. FORTY MINUTES! He then completely forgot our children's drink orders, leaving my husband to track him down to remind him about beverages placed over an hour prior. Our food, when it eventually arrived, was merely "okay," but good luck trying to get anyone's attention for something as basic as Tabasco sauce. The staff, including Piela, seemed more interested in huddling at the back or front desk, laughing and chatting, rather than attending to paying customers. And let me be clear, you were NOT short-staffed; the majority of your employees were visibly congregating at the drinks counter.
The desert dilemma was no better. We had to actively search for Piela, only to find him at the front desk engaged in a leisurely chat with the front desk lady. To add insult to injury, the lady manager saw me trying to get their attention, made eye contact, and then deliberately turned her back on us. This is not just poor service; it's outright disdain for customers.
I had specifically asked Piela to sing for my mother-in-law for her birthday, and he completely ignored this request. When we later requested him to sing at our table for a "big birthday," he failed to do so again. It's a basic Spur tradition, and he couldn't even manage that.
When it came time to pay, we had to hunt him down again for the bill. My father-in-law was rudely told to "stay put" as the waiter would bring the bill, only for us to wait another agonizing 20 minutes.
But the most egregious part of this entire debacle came at the very end. When I expressed my extreme distaste at Piela's service, HE TRIED TO RUB THE BACK OF MY ARM! Yes, you read that correctly – an unsolicited physical touch after a terrible service experience. It was completely inappropriate and frankly, disturbing.
To cap it all off, when Piela finally brought the bill, he attempted to have us pay for some of our drinks separately in cash because they "weren't run up on the slip." My husband rightly intervened, insisting on a single, total bill. What kind of shoddy operation are you running where your waiters are trying to conduct cash-only side transactions for items not on the official slip?
This was my first time in all my years of dining out that I have ever left a restaurant without leaving a tip. Piela and the management at Sea Point Spur left an utterly sour taste in our mouths. Your staff's training is severely lacking, particularly in customer service, basic attentiveness, and professional conduct.
We will absolutely, under no circumstances, be returning to this establishment. Avoid at all costs if you value your time,...
Read moreService started ok , food took , too long to come , drinks came fast, i orderd the vegan meal, avo on toast with mushroom and and swopped my vegan chicken sausage for bacon,
Once breakfast was served , it was downhill from there, my Avo on toast was awful and the bread was soggy , who can soggy toast with avo, awful. Bacon I requested was overcooked, actually burnt on the sides that it was black , bitter .. really terrible and my side order of onion rings was over cooked , like it was reheated in hot oil again and got dark brown , not like spurs usual golden brown onion rings.
By the way , a manager I think , who was small in built, a coloured lady , came to our table , to borrow sugar for another customer, she didn't even take a second to ask if everything was fine with our meals.
Waited long to get a bill, told we paying by card, and waitress said she will get a card machine , but it never came , seems we was forgotten bcz she was assisting someone else.
Hubby went to the cashier to pay , then the waitress come so quickly to the cashier when we paying .
Just an awful Sunday morning breakfast, It spoilt the beginning of a beautiful day .. this is one of the worst services and poorly prepared food served by a Spur. I truly wanted to complain but my husband just talked me out of it .
I am a loyal customer to spur but Seven Spur Sea Point greatly disappointed, with unsatisfactory service and poorly prepared food , that leaves a bitter burnt taste of bacon in...
Read moreSaturday 27/02/2021 - Service was horrific. Waited outside +-15 minutes for a table. (Counted about 5 tables which were not cleaned, with dirty dishes not taken to the kitchen yet). Upon being seat at 19:25, our order was only taken at 19:42. Our order arrived at 20:10 - Both my partner and I received crumbs for fries! These tiny, bottom of the batch chippies! The cheese on my Hawaiian schnitzel looked as if it had been through everything in life. Instead of receiving proper cutting knives, I received 3 butter knives! The couple across from us also order at about 19:45 and received their order at 20:30!!! And it was just steak! The steak was not even well done as per the patron's request! It was sent back to the kitchen, well my partner and I had left shortly after we had eaten, but you guessed it, the poor lady's steak was still not back from the kitchen to be cooked properly!. Let me not get started about the couple, whom we found at their table when we arrived, who also only received their food at about 20:20. This spur will never see me again. Oh and the aircons! Uhmm, I have no idea what the hell that is, but we were sweating!
I almost forgot to mention the gentleman we found at the door upon our arrival who had been waiting for about 50 minutes for his takeaway...
