I moved to Cape Town in 2022 and battled to find a local coffee shop that made delicious coffee and had brilliant service and awesome, friendly staff. And then Plato opened early 2023. And all my coffee dreams and needs were met. They serve the most delicious, tasty coffee and coffee drinks, have the best pastries, and always greet and serve you with the friendliest faces and service. I was very disappointed by the service I received. The two guys behind the counter were extremely disrespectful to my colleague and I. We are two women. They did not greet us when we came in, I asked how they are and I got no reply but when another lady came in after us they were quick to greet her and help her. They did not ask us what we wanted to order and shooed us off quickly when other customers came in. I think this is really unacceptable and should be looked into going further. Complete lack of engagement with the customer. Staff too busy nattering with each other at the top of their voices behind the counter. And ten minutes before closing I was asked to move to a different section so they could remove the chairs. I have no idea why because it's all inside the shop. They could have waited a few minutes until I finished my coffee. Client comfort is not a priority. There are plenty of other coffee shops in the vicinity where they fall over themselves to make you feel welcome and the atmosphere is not like a warehouse so needed to waste...
