What a beautiful place. Awesome views and exquisite decor. Pristine inside. Very quiet. This restaurant serves their hotel guests and allows walk-ins. They had a very limited offer of what to eat (as per menu pictured). They also had a cheese platter. We opted for the small 3-plate option @ R550 pp. At first we were a bit shocked at the price pp. This for 3 small (starter-like) plates, as per menu. But we were hungry so decided to try it out. Once the good arrived, we were speechless. Really! This was the closest I have ever come to crying over a meal. The taste... Michelin-chef approval.. The presentation, fit for a gourmet photo shoot. And the staff just perfect. So well trained and very professional, yet friendly. I would go back in a heartbeat if it weren't so far from us. We had dinner at Grande Roche on Boxing Day. Nice restaurant. Our table was initially set incorrectly. Wrong cutlery...no butter plates...carelessly folded napkins. The sparkling wine (Boschendal) for the aperitif was not in stock. We got a warm replacement for that. When we went to order the food, we discovered that the springbok was out of stock. So from the beginning. So overall the service was bad, inattentive and it was clear that they were all clueless temporary workers. But it doesn't matter because the tip is automatically added to the bill. The food was good. The portions are a bit tight. We had to order the bread with butter and hummus separately. I’ll have to start with the negative first, so I asked the waitress what she would recommend for the day and she recommended the Sirloin Steak (Price R250). Imagine my disappointment when a petite sample of a steak, weighing nothing more than a 100g , and 12 chips arrived on my plate at the table. My wife on the other hand, ordered the lamb curry (R225), which I would gladly rate a 9/10. It was soft, really flavourful and a decent portion, I am so grateful that she doesn’t eat a lot, so I had the opportunity to gratefully finished her food.
