For the reader to fully understand my reason for rating this restaurant so poorly, I will explain the whole scenario...
On a cold Friday night after snacks and drinks we decided to go for a quick bite just for the fun of it, not really hungry. We decided on Bossa Nova as I have always known it for a warm atmosphere and good food.
Drinks and food orders were taken with no problem. Drinks came without problems and we ordered one pizza to share. It was about 9 PM on a Friday and it wasn't really busy in the restaurant as most people were finished eating. We waited quite long for the single pizza without noticing as my wife and I was chatting and enjoying the evening.
However when the pizza eventually came it was ice cold. The cheese on top was hard and the meat and base was cold. I then struggled to get the attention of a waitress (as they were starting to clean their work areas). When one came to us she took the pizza away and said she will sort it out quickly. 5 minutes later our waitress comes to us to ask if we want it reheated or a new one made. Now at this point it was 10 PM and both of us had to get up early the next morning so we couldn't wait for a new one to be made and the option to reheat was not a good idea as the pizza had avocado on it.
I asked for the bill for the drinks as I did not wish to pay for the pizza that I asked them to take back. The waitress handled the whole situation very well, but the managers (there were 2 on duty) not so much and this is perhaps what disappointed me the most.
I feel that the manager should have acted and come to our table and not let the waitress deal with a mistake that wasn't made by her. They didn't do or say anything, didn't apologize, even as we walked right by them when walking out. All we got was a cold and almost sarcastic "Thank you". I had to bite on my lip not to say anything rude or unnecessary at that moment.
This whole event totally ruined an otherwise nice evening for me and my wife. As we had to go home hungry or perhaps hangry after looking forward to...
Read moreSo we ended up coming on a Monday when they were doing the burger special, so it was really busy we could only get a table for 8:00.
However when we turned up at 7:30 to have a drink at the bar there was plenty of tables by the bar area which wasn't informed to us on the phone 📱.
This wasn't that much of an issue so we stayed in the bar area and ordered too, being so busy the waitress was rushed off her feet.
After ordering our drinks came a classic mojito And a negroni...we had a lot of cocktails in our time me with my negronis, old fashioned, whisky sour.....but these were really bad and filled to the brim with ice way too much ice that takes away the taste so they were a disappointment as it was pretty weak.
For the food, we ordered a steak 🥩 medium but it was closer to rare and a burger 🍔 something with camembert cheese but it was smoothed in this pepper sauce and that's all u tasted for this burger 🍔 was this sauce..maybe put the sauce in the side as that's all u could taste, we also had some jalapeno poppers which was the best thing about this meal as it was made in panko crumbs which made them unique.
So the food was pretty meh and disappointing too much sauce and as I said he steak 🥩 was under cooked. The best thing was the poppers .
We also ordered another 2 cocktail 🍹 can't remember the name though but both were also pretty bland we did ask for an extra shot in both but didn't really make much difference and again they put sooooo much ice in the cocktail 🍹🍸 I don't know why they do this maybe to make look more full than it is but it simply makes the cocktail 🍹 watery and weak .
The waitress even though she looked very stressed at first as she was so busy was good and deserved the star I giving u as she a credit in the end .

Read moreIt is a crying shame that people/companies have ZERO INTEGRITY and/or take ownership when they mess up. Let me set the scene:
Myself and the Mrs go to donate blood and then decide to get get something to eat. I saw earlier today on FB a post from Bossa and we decided on it.
We get to Bossa and was greeted promptly and professionally and was sent through to the bar, as we said we were going to order takeaway. After being seated I asked the waiter in regards to the post and he said that he would go check on it, as he said there were no current specials today. A few moments later Jacques, the manager arrived and I asked him the same. He too was unaware of any such special. I then took my phone, went to Bossa Paarl site and showed him. He was very surprised to see this and took out his own phone(I assumed he wanted to check/verify) and he told me he needed to go investigate. He returned a few minutes later.
He went on to tell us that he had spoken to the owner and this special(as most of us who frequent Bossa are aware) is for Monday's only and please to understand that this post, three days ago was sent through by Head Office, not them. I then stated that this was on their page and regardless who posted it, was valid, as it IS ONE COMPANY. He did agree, but still stated that it would not be honored.
Now plz correct me, but CPA does state that what is quoted , is what is to be charged ?? This was then false advertising through and through and he would not accept ANY responsibility on it, just said sorry and left.
Having gone back onto FB, I was quite amazed to see how quickly it had been rectified.
I am not the type to do these kind of posts as I hate slating anyone, but being treated in such a fashion without any consideration for taking ownership for me pointing out a PR disaster is just totally unacceptable. Anyone can make a mistake, but it's how you rectify it.
