When you choose a job in the service industry, there’s one major rule to keep in mind: customer service is everything. My experience last Friday at this restaurant was a real disappointment because of two bartenders at the front bar who clearly didn't grasp this.
I sat at the bar, as I usually do when dining alone, and the bartenders refused to pour me a glass of whiskey unless I paid right at the cash register. I explained that I’d be ordering drinks throughout the night, so it made sense to start a tab, but they told me I was "rude" and needed to “learn how to speak to people.” It was an uncomfortable exchange, to say the least, and I ended up leaving for the second bar inside the premises. There, thankfully, I was treated with the respect and service I’d expect.

Read moreThe place and it's immediate environment are deteriorating. Three years ago I'd have said five stars. The service was a little slow but that could have been due to staff shortages. Although the municipality is supposed to clean up around you it would not hurt for you to invest in your property by cleaning up where they fail. Your immediate surrounding 20m radius from the walls determines the atmosphere. For a beachfront place I'd say it is disappointing compared to Port Elizabeth beachfront restaurants.
The food however was really nice ordered a basket and the portion was insane in a good way.
I hope things improve it would be truly disappointing if they don't. Broken beer bottles appeal to nobody. Again not the restaurant's fault but community service initiatives don't go unnoticed and people will pay more for food and drink if they can feel the...
