Shanna's Portuguese Restaurant — Restaurant in Eastern Cape

Absolutely incredible experience, as well as food. We were so well looked after! Our waitress was awesome, and the manager was friendly and chatty, you could instantly tell he was genuinely interested to find out how everything was.

Starters: I had the pork pieces, even though I thought it was risky as I generally don't live pork, and 10/10 would have again. The red wine sauce (I think) was out of this world. My husband had the mussels, and really enjoyed that they didn't rely on a ton of garlic, they were really good!

For mains, we both ordered the steak and prawns, and although honestly the steak could have used some spice/salt, the prawns MORE than made up for it. It was seriously impressive, they were obviously extremely fresh!

To end off the night, my husband had a don't pedro, and even though eskom had been messing with the ice cream, it was still great!! I had the creme brulee, which seriously was gorgeous.

We both left satisfied and impressed that we have such a gem right around the corner from us!

On Friday 29 April 2022 my wife and I enjoyed a wonderful prawn meal at Shanna's. Their food is fantastic, but their service went way beyond that. We had booked a car through King Cabs to pick us up at home at 6.30pm to take us to the restaurant and then collect us at 9pm to take us back home. The cab arrived to take us to Shanna's. No problem there, but the cab did not return at 9pm to take us home. We tried phoning King Cab four times, but only got the busy signal. We waited until 9.20pm but they had left us stranded. We asked Jorge of Shanna's if he could assist by booking another cab service. My wife and I visited this excellent venue because we had heard so much about it. As a fairly new resident of Port Elizabeth (ex Cape Town) we hadn't been there before, so made our booking (essential) My wife had the mussel starter and I the calamari steak.. We have both had these dishes countless times before, but this time it was different from all the others. Both dishes were infused with a subtle but distinct blend of tasty flavours. For main courses we had queen prawns (wife) and the 1/2 chicken and king prawns.
