The Beef 'n Reef — Restaurant in Free State

Wow Beef and Reef Northridge, what a horrible experience! Poor customer service and food that was off. On friday 8th Dec 2023 i called and oredered the 500g Ribs of R175 for 8 people. On collecting the food i noticed how the manger(female) speaks to her staff members in a very unprofessional and rude manner and this is in front of other customers. Got back to work and we had the food, today Monday 11th Dec all 8 people confirmed they had a painful and runny stomach at friday night and saturday. This morning i called Reef and beef Northridge to complain and make them aware that the food they served us was off and that we were sick, the first thing the manager told me was that it can definitely not be the food they served us🧐🤨 ….?? Like?? Not even an apology,…. We could’ve experienced something worse because this is seen as food poisoning but she told me it cannot be the food and that i should come into the store to complain. I will definitely not waste my time going back there and also not to speak to an ignorant manager that does not have any...

First time dining here — definitely not the last!

What a great dinner experience we had at this establishment. As first-time diners, we were truly blown away.

The snails were lovely. The T-Bone steak was succulent, cooked perfectly to my requested temperature (Med-Rare). I'm usually hesitant about ordering steak when dining out, but this one exceeded all expectations. If you're not having your steak here, you're seriously missing out! The side of veggies took me straight back to my Sunday meals back at home, very nostalgic. The ribs were lovely, the wings tasty.

Now the Chakalaka? Divine! I simply couldn’t get enough of it.

We rounded off our meal with the Malva Pudding and it was a perfect sweet note to end the meal.

A big thank you to Wouter, our waiter, who was attentive, thoughtful, and really focused on the finer details, he made an already wonderful experience even better.

Last year 24 November we had to wait for 1and a 1/2 hour for our food and then the excuse was the calamari had to be made fresh since some of the patrons got food poisoning on a previous occasion.

So after 10 months we thought to give it another go.

On our arrival while we were waiting to be seated for about 30 minutes they picked a table up and it fell apart and made one hell of a load noise. So they tried to repair it right there and then upside down on the floor between all the patrons with a hammer and screw driver in the restaurant. Then turning it around to put it back on its legs just to break again, to make the same loud noise again to everyone’ discomfort and shock.

Much to our disappointment, nothing improved. The food was luke warm and flavorless. The waitress forgot about us time and time again. And yes we had to wait for our food again, for a hour and...
