Aman is undeniably worth a visit, especially if you're not seeking a quiet family-friendly atmosphere. It's a lively, stylish, and bustling restaurant that, I must add, boasts an assault on the senses with its stunning decor. Although they weren't fully prepared to open at 9 am, the staff was friendly and helpful. Despite a small hiccup with my reservations, they managed to accommodate us. We savored both breakfast and lunch. The breakfast menu is genuinely impressive, catering to a variety of tastes. They also offer a good selection of vegetarian and a few vegan options, but it's evident that this restaurant caters primarily to meat lovers. For lunch, we opted to share platters, and they did not disappoint. The carne, ribs, chicken platters, and Meze were all delicious. Each dip on the Meze platter was outstanding. While the restaurant offers mineral water options, it would be great to see a local sparkling water choice, like Thirsti, which is possibly the best water on the market in South Africa. If you're a coffee enthusiast, be aware that their coffees are on the smaller side, but that's a matter of personal preference. One of the highlights is their extensive drinks menu. I highly recommend trying one of their signature cocktails; the mixologists really know their craft. Overall, it was a fantastic day for us. My only suggestion to management would be to work on the finer details of service. For instance, they could use more runners to clear tables promptly. I must say, though, the wait staff is delightful. Despite a few minor inconsistencies, such as not being fully ready at opening time, the absence of morning biscuits (which were rectified in the evening), occasionally lukewarm coffees, and reservations not aligning with our request, these were minor issues that the staff handled well. In the end, thank you for providing us with a wonderful dining experience at Aman.

For a place that so many people speak highly of and recommend, my partner and I were extremely disappointed with our anniversary experience at Aman. I had booked a table for two, specifying that we wanted to sit inside (especially since it’s winter). We arrived on time for our 7 PM booking, only to stand waiting at an empty reception for a while before anyone attended to us. When someone finally did, they told me my booking was for outside — which I know for a fact wasn’t true. I repeated that we booked for inside, but was told there was “no space.” It was cold that night, yet we were placed outside and told they’d “make a plan.” Eventually, they squeezed a table from outside into the inside area and seated us there. From there, things didn’t improve. No one introduced themselves as our waiter. Instead, we were served by two different waiters and one of the managers — making it confusing and impersonal. My partner ordered a shaken margarita, but was given a frozen one instead. They did correct it, but it added to the sense of carelessness. The food itself was delicious — I’ll give them that — but the service was so poor that it overshadowed the meal. We had requested a plate writing that said “Happy Anniversary,” but were first served one that said “Happy Birthday.” This mistake was corrected, but by that point the atmosphere was already ruined. Overall, the service was disorganized, inattentive and disappointing from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. We couldn’t even tell who to tip, as multiple people kept randomly serving us. Sadly, what should have been a special, memorable evening turned into one of the worst dining experiences we’ve had. Aman completely ruined our anniversary.

Beautiful place, great atmosphere, very aesthetically pleasing… they really did a good job putting the place together. The service was horrible. Took very long to get our order drinks, took time getting our food order. Manager came to ask us if we are okay, we told him we are not happy with service and have been waiting for our drinks. He literally just apologised and said they are working on improving and moved on to the next table 😳🚮…he did not ask who is our waiter, he did not go to the bar to get them to find out what is the issue. He literally just did not care and did nothing about it. Yoohh 🚮🚮🚮🚮 The food is horrible and just overpriced. I ordered a fillet on the bone medium with baby potatoes, my food was very dry and over cooked, with a lot of black paper. Yoh ai 🫠🫠😔… they must get a new chef Shem. I did not enjoy the food and my friends did not enjoy their food. Again, nothing was done and we were told that they are working on improving 🧐🧐🧐 Only thing I enjoyed was their fried sushi. Like I am speechless with the experience, I got, this place is honestly not worth the hype. And I am not convinced that they are working on improving or giving their customers a pleasant experience. It is not make sure unfortunately 😮‍💨✌🏾 They do have a wide range of drinks menu, I think if you have the waiting patience, you can enjoy afternoon drinks with friends or colleagues.

If I could give the service more stars, I would! It was exceptional. The managers and waitors were out of this world but why am I surprised, it's always been this way on the many occasions I've been here... I guess that's why we keep coming back!

It was my son's (13yrs) 1st time dining here and he was blown away by the ambience and mostly the service from the managers who went out of their way to purchase phone chargers in order to charge his and my phone 😀

It's something else when you get to a restaurant that is meticulous about evoking a super great experience, making it worth your while to go, spend your time and money there.

Thank you Amān family for an awesome experience and keep at it and we'll keep coming back!!!

The above post was a year ago, sadly a year later, I’m utterly disappointed and sad that an esteemed restaurant is losing 1 of its purpose of greatness. Today, 23 Aug 2025, the service left much to desire and mind you, I invited a few friends that I promised would be blown away by Aman’s magic. The service was extremely disappointing we had to continuously wave widely, jump for attention of any waiter because our waiter was busy serving many other tables. The other waiters were idling.. gathering at the bar counter doing whatever exactly?? but it wasn’t serving their guests. It was sad to see how an army of probably 10- 15 odd waiters, hostesses and managers could not maintain the service standards of this restaurant’s as that of when it first opened its doors. Aman’s service today was ridiculous- it was burning - up in smoke!

To an extent where we received the bill and 15 minutes later we were still trying to pay what’s due to them - fortunately we ( 4 of us) have integrity and paid the bill at the reception desk - many other guests followed… we could’ve easily walked out without paying the small fortune of the scrumptious food and drinks we had consumed over 4 hrs we were there.

I experienced my disappointment to the Horst at the desk and though they looked at our waiter with disapproval I had to mention that he needed help,@. He was not idle at the bar with the others.

My partner and I done at Aman at the least 4 times a month and we keep going back because of attention to detail- the teamwork among the waiters where they understood that each guest is their guest irrespective of whether they are the primary waiter. Everyone waitress/host/manager stepped in and stepped up!

I left Aman today feeling angry at the service of a restaurant that my partner and I compared to 3 star restaurants- a restaurant where waiters, hosts and managers worked together to to serve their guests for they knew they were there for the amazing ambience, delicious food and great service Aman provides.

To the owners- Hopefully you will read this!

If you want to continue being great and sustainable- I hope you read this and pause-— Reflect on what is going wrong and fix it. You have a great restaurant and it can continue being great for years to come but only if you serve your guests extremely well irrespective of when they dine with you…. Because you are probably aware of the breakfast service.’Saturday’s is 1 of your busiest days- pay attention (to your team and guests) and make the change soonest.

Your team and guests rely upon you to make a turnaround and...
