Average food, nothing mind blasting, that's what we experienced at chalk. Had a couple of drinks which were good. For starters we ordered the calamari reloaded and the pani puri bites. The calamari was rubbery and the flavour was meh. The pani puri was horrible and flat. Not crispy at all, like it was old stock. For mains we got the chicken Primavera (meh dry chicken) and the Korean beef bao as well as the pork belly bao. The pork one was tasty and the best of the mains. The beef one was ok, nothing to write home about. For dessert we had the pavlova and the banana waffles. The pavlova was ok I guess. The banana waffles were awesome, was skeptical as it was the first time having banana in a dessert and had to say I was surprised at how good it was. Excellent!! Classy place for Benoni without the snobish vibe. The staff are wonderful and helpful, attentive. I started with a mimosa, whoop whoop... very good. The pomegranate halloumi and sticky asian chicken lollipops were finger licking good!!! I would have eaten the chicken bones too if I did not have to behave...My main meal of Honey-glazed Pork Chops with roasted veggies was devine. No words to describe but I will try. The pork was moist and tender, huge chops, and I still wanted dessert, but I just could not eat another bite. Will go back for dessert next time. Had a Dom Pedro instead. Not a great experience. Booked for Valentines dinner, as we sat down we were told they are out of wine glasses. Starters took over an hour, mains then took another hour to be served. One plate of mains arrived first then 15min later the other plate arrived. The quality of steak wasnt great at all! Whilst waiting so long for our food, we finished our bottle of wine and ask for a glass of wine each so we could have with dinner, we finished our mains and that glass of wine was still not at our table so we canceled the wine as we wanted to have it with our mains.
