It is definately preferable that you make a reservation rather then just walking in. Its an amazing place!
I made our booking for 8pm. There were still customers eating, and lots of people waiting outside. It is understandable that you cant expect the restaurant to ask its guests to get up and leave, because you wouldnt like that happening to you and your family. And honestly, it was about 20min or so waiting time and they really do clean the tables well after each set of customers leave. They work really fast which is impressive.
The mall itself is a bit risky at that time since there are some pick pockets that walk around. And because Istanbul is loud, they take advantage. Really, you have to be aware. I suppose they really cause problems for the owners as there is nothing you can do about it. They are so swift and quick and they really distract you well while they steal. Luckily, the lady was aware and caught them. Please dont leave your phones or purses or bags open like if you have a shopper or a bag that doesnt close on the top, dont leave it on the floor or table or chair. And really, this is for anywhere.
The food was amazing. Hands down, Falafel was to die for. The food in general was absolutely delicious. We didnt do alot of dessert because we were so full. Their Kunafah is best eaten at the restaurant itself, or buy the frozen one and ask them how to prepare. The ice cream tasted like pure vanilla with no cheap ingredients. So devine. Absolutely everything was delicious. Everything. Absolutely everything was prepared fresh. Everything was made at that time of the night, with the same enthusiasm from the morning. Its truly appreciated.
Service was excellent. Lindi was our special waitress for the evening. I dont remember the lady at the front door but was also equally great that really took care of us. They didnt show us a bad attitude at any part of the evening at all and made our evening so great. A big heartfelt Thank You to you guys for your help. We appreciate your hardwork. We appreciate you. We are very happy we got to spend our dinner evening with...
Read moreWe arrived for dinner at 7 p.m. on a Saturday. We didn't make a reservation, and thankfully there was an empty table open when we arrived, although the restaurant was fairly full.
For our main course, I ordered Lamb Chops Kebab. This is mostly comprised of lamb chops, rice, chips, flat bread, salads, and a variety of traditional Turkish accompaniments. We were brought the flat bread, salads, and accompaniments first. It was great since you could whet your appetite with the accompaniments before the meat arrived. The range of accompaniments had a totally different taste than I was used to, but it was nevertheless pleasant.
The lamb chops arrived shortly after we had nearly eaten the accompaniments. Hats off to the timing! The lamb was well-cooked and delicious. It went well with the remainder of the accompaniments and salads. The potato chips provided with the chops were crunchy on the outside but fluffy on the inside.
For dessert, we ordered kunefe and cold baklava. We were given complimentary Turkish tea while we ate dessert. The desserts were really fantastic! The kunefe is a shredded wheat delicacy filled with pistachios. It was served hot from the oven, so the cheese inside was soft and stringy. It came with a side of ice cream. My favorite dessert had to be cold baklava. I'll admit that I'm not a big lover of baklava in general, so it was a pleasant surprise that I enjoyed it so much. This baklava was distinguished by its milk-soaked texture. The Turkish tea was a plain tea (no milk), strong, and piping hot. It complemented the desserts well. I thought our hostess' recommendation was spot on.
The wait service have to be among the most attentive I've seen. I would rank it almost on par with some well-known fine dining establishments. They were welcoming and knowledgeable enough about the foods to appropriately advise us in making our food selections.
The restaurant was well-lit and beautifully designed. It also has Turkish products available for purchase. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and would gladly...
Read moreA while back we decided to surprise my brother with some food from Istanbul Kebab & Shwarma for his birthday.
We have always loved the food at Istanbul Kebab and Shawarma Rivonia Boulevard and since my trip to Turkey last year the cravings were real. Sadly before we could make a trip back that branch had an incident and has been closed since, but luckily they opened this new branch in sunninghill while fixing the other one. As soon as they were opened we made a plan to order takeaways.
We ordered the mixed platter for 2-3 people (various char grilled meats with salads, chips, rice, ezme, haydari and 3 rotis), and 2 of the Mixed Pide's so we didn't need to choose between chicken, beef or veg and one of the Falafel meals. While waiting we got some of the loveliest Apple tea, that I miss drinking from being in Turkey. They even have a Aryan drinking machine there which is so cool. Sorry but I am not a fan of the aryan but I love the machine they have. Their baklava is also not bad. It's not too sweet and i know they were experimenting with some new flavours.
There was enough food for everyone and loved all the salads and sides that accompanied our takeaways.
Definitely need to go back and have a sit down meal....
