Malbroer — Restaurant in Gauteng

Visited the establishment for over 6 weeks on different days and times, before making the decision to have my daughter's 18th birthday there. I have observed the staff throughout the weeks prior to my daughter's birthday and have no complaints. From management, Eric and Monica, to the bartenders, doorkeepers (bouncers), waiters, kitchen staff, dj's, right to the lady in the bathroom cleaning after every usage of it. Malbroer caters for both young and old(er), music is great and the food are delicious. Staff is always friendly and even though they work extreme hours, they still do it with a smile. These people work long hours, you might only get there at 08.00 at night to watch the show/artist, but these staff members are there from 08.00 (even earlier) in the mornings. Cleaning floors, polishing glasses, etc. Yes I have observed these people. They are very friendly and even with the not so sober clientele too. The pricing of the food and drinks are reasonable and you get to see some of the country's best music artists for merely R50/R100. Ordered a Castle Lite draught and it tasted flat,funny taste and left a oily texture in my mouth. Went to complain and got told that it might be the glass. I got a replacement and it tasted exactly the same ( I had 3 other people at my table taste who also regularly drink Castle Lite.

The chairs seems to be built for a stickfigure of a person as they are super small and uncomfortable.

The music is so loud you have to literally hold your hand to someone elses ear to talk to each other

I had pieces of the 3 cheese pizza, Juicy Russian pizza, Ribs, Steak and Sushy.

The 3 cheese pizza was decent. The Juicy Russian pizza was bland and almost tasteless and cut onions big enough to take up a 1/3 of a slice.

The steak and ribs tasted bland and extremely touch meat. Even struggling to chew them.

The sushy was a 9/10 for me even having a good presenation.

Prices are extortionate and ridiculous honestly.

Our waiter on the other hand was great and she was quick and got all our orders right.

The food arrived very quick and the place was clean overall.

Total score for this venue 4/10. I dont think I will come to this pace...

Would really not recommend.

I attended opening night an absolute fail and opted for a second chance but it’s an absolute no from me … Bombarded before you even enter the building by staff.. just to be let down on the service once they’ve ’booked’ you as their customer.. worked in tips on the bill is all they care about it seems instead of offering a pleasant experience.

Back to entering.. on entry a woman standing a few steps away asked me something.. I said I can’t hear as the music is so loud you need to scream at each other to hear.. I called her closer.. she asked to check my little 15 x 15 cm bag I opened it .. just for her to stick her whole hand in my bag… twice.. I said to her would you like me to throw everything out of my tiny bag .. ?? Really I know checks need to be done .. but this is very inappropriate.. get a scanner if you must.

If you like having to scream at people , appreciate bad service and giving away money to individuals who are not deserving of it.. this is the place for you.
