News Cafe Southgate — Restaurant in Gauteng

I am a regular customer there and I spend quite a lot at the outlet but the service I got yesterday was very disappointing and disrespectful at that. I had ordered food for a couple of friends who were coming to join me but upon their arrival they said they were not hungry therefore I requested the waiter to cancel the food order and add on drinks instead. The waiter who’s name was Phakamani requested his manager if he can cancel and the manager on duty by the name of Mandla I think blatantly refused and as I tried reasoning with him he started shouting at my face pointing at me he then walked away as I was still talking to him and called security on me as if I was fighting with him when all I wanted to do was swap the food for a few more drinks not cancelling the order entirely. If this is the kind of customer service your managers on duty give then what are they teaching the staff. The waiter was actually more helpful than the manager who was utterly rude to us. He proceeded to say if I dare not pay for the food I won’t be allowed to leave the outlet I shouldn’t test his patience. Imagine how do you speak to a customer like that? For the amount I spend at the establishment it was disappointing to get such service. I ended up paying for the food and not ordering more drinks and left as I was furious to be treated like that.
