Service at Paul’s waterfall is impeccable. Sibonghile our waitress is so empathetic and understands her customers needs. I ordered the roast beef sandwich and wanted a soft roll. My sandwich came and it was hard, I found it difficult to cut. Sibonghile saw me struggling and she offered to change it with a softer bread 🥖 and I got the olive roll which was amazing. After a while of amazing service from her, We told her to call her manager so that we can tell him how amazing she is. She was so amazing and she gave me free dessert which you see below in this picture. I am mindblown as to how this women knew that this is my favorite dessert 🍮 of all time. Great service from Pauls waterfall ❤️

This place is so relaxing, I’m not sure if it’s because it was a Sunday or, but I enjoyed their service and breakfast keep up the good work 👏🏼

The authentic French brand when you're looking for some good food and drink. Your eyes start eating when you see the options; pastries, bread or whatever someone else ordered, and you can't wait to get a taste. The pain perdu (that's French for French toast) is some of the thickest sliced bread that is so light and fluffy it seems to defy physics. Drizzled in maple syrup with crispy pancetta (fancy bacon) it's a full-fledged feast with an amazing orchestra of flavours. The warmth of the decor and service make it a welcoming visit. There are plug points behind the booth seats for those who may need to work and there is WiFi available.

Update (September 2022): It’s all smoke and mirrors: Went again (we live closeby), but it‘s simply not good food. I ordered an omelette, waited 40 mins and was then served an overcooked, thin egg pancake with fillings. Guys, you are a FRENCH restaurant, why would you not serve a proper omelette? And omelette is supposed to be generous, fluffy, definitely not cooked dry. I’m telling you whoever cooked this just poured some beaten eggs in a pan, waited and then rolled this thing up. As a side they served a hashbrown which looked and tasted a lot like those frozen ones you get at Checkers. Oh, and my drink came in a dirty glass. Instead of butter they serve some kind of spread now. The shop was packed sure, so clearly business is going alright, it‘s just shame it‘s not tasty at all.

Update (June 2022): They are really dropping the ball. Was served pretty bad food twice in a row now - disappointing. Guess it’s back to Tasha’s again. ¯(ツ)/¯

Original Review: Paul‘s is by far the best option for breakfast in Waterfall. Food is very tasty, nice atmosphere, service is pretty fast now.

Their menu is a bit confusing — for example there are two menu items which are both versions of salmon eggs benedict. Both cost the same, but one one is nearly twice the size of the other.

Their cakes are very good as well, however their (bread) baking has declined a bit: First few times we got some bread for takeout we were really impressed but lately quality has gone down. It‘s notably worse than the Melrose...

Greatest issue is getting a seat, not because they are so popular, but because there is no seating system. Walked in at the main door and asked for a table for two, was told there was a bit of wait which we were fine with. The lady who assisted us was distracted and offered us a table which was a very tight squeeze, we asked if we could wait for a table we spotted outside that was paying. Agreed and then we waited. We saw a couple get out of their car, go to the side door, point at the table we had been waiting for and they were seated. Another man walked towards us after the fact and asked if we were waiting for a table and we explained that we have been waiting and the table they just seated the other couple at (who didn’t even walk through the main door and join the line) was the table we were waiting for. He walked away and never returned, neither did the lady who said she we could wait for the table in the beginning. At that point we just left. Surely for a restaurant with limited seating and space, you should atleast have a seating system or a hostess/host. The staff was unhelpful, aloof and dismissive to us, but I’m sure the other couple had...

I have been to Paul Morningside and Melrose and have to say Waterfall by far the worst experience. Clearly it is a popular spot in the morning, can't fault them for that. I like the touch of mimosa while waiting for a table.

Ordered our drinks and food, I asked for Soft eggs with hollandaise sauce on the side, my friend asked for medium eggs. When we got out our order, my hollandaise sauce was on top of my eggs 🙃, my friend's eggs were well done. I returned my order. When they bought my order for the second time, my eggs were medium 🙃😭 at this point I just ate because I am hungry and have a day to continue with.

We had previously asked for water with lemon, clearly our waiter forgot about them. When we reminded him the second time, he bought the water but no lemon 🙃🙃🙃.

The manager did not even bother to come and check in on us or apologies for what happened, he kept passing our table.

Paul Waterfall can take a lesson from Paul Morningside and Melrose.

Terrible first experience, would not...
