Well. I visited the nature reserve 2 week prior. My 4yr old enjoyed it very much walking and looking at the animals in the reserve. On the way out we walked on the lawn. Which i only found out to be rademeyr restaurant when exiting the main gate. Thought to bring my my family here for a dinner one day soon.
Advance 2 weeks till today. My 4 year old want to have a picnic. Well i know just the spot. I told her it is fine we will make a plan and pack the pucnin basket, we will phone mother and tell her to join us. Dad has planned a Love ā¤ļø picnic for the two off them. My 4 year old was so excited and full of cheers ! Maybe Afterwards fetching my twin daugters (7 years) have a drink at the restaurant and pizza with the family.
When we arrived i said to the youngest, she should show me where she would love to sit down for the picnic. She pointed out the pond.
Some children from the playground came to fetch her to play with them. A waiter came to ask me if i would want someting to drink, which i declined and explained why and my intentions.
After about 10 minutes i called the youngest and we fetched the blanket and the picnic basket. While sitting there about 10-15 minutes a waiter came and said we are not allowed to sit there. Slightly annoyed i said okay and asked where am i allowed to sit if not there. I do not want to move again and again and having trouble. He said sitting on the lawn is not prohibited.PLEASE POINT OUT WHERE AM I ALLOWED. and he showed some benches. I moved. After yet again 10 minutes another wait come and said i am not allowed to sit there. Now really anoyed. I explained again and said i was pointed out. Oh by the way, you are not allowed š« to eat here. Okay no. Problem no harm done we did not eat anything yet, and it is fine we will not eat anything. But why could or did the the other waiters not tell that in the first place.
So i said it is fine we will not eat. But by that time the wife was already on the way. Shortly after the owner/manager arrived and said we are not allowed to eat or sit there. Which i said yes we have been informed. Trying to explain to him ( very very anoyed now) that there was at least 3 occasions this could have been said. Now he started to say this is private property and it is not allowed. I asked but the nature reserve is open to all. On which he point and made myself aware off the bord errected saying it is the case. On my responce i said i did not notice it and it would have been nice if the waiters could have pointed it out as well. His responce" no sir this is privat property you will not tel me how to run my business. My waiter would not have told you to sit here because they know it is not allowed. My waiters is trained and knowledgeable. " I do not wish to tell you but there was more than one occasion. And for the owner to come and be like that to a first time client. Well not good. Especcially afrer then he mentioned the kitchen is annyway closed i will not be able to get anything there this time. And i should respect the rules. I did not at any given time not respect the rules. I obey it i said my intentions, i just did not see the bords ercted. I did not see it on the website. In my opinion, this is a nature reserve belonging to the city of tswane.
The private property sign i thought is for the restaurant. But for the owner/manager not to listen to the concerns and argument to try to improve once experience is sad. I did not and would not have had a problem in moving. He (manager) could have just listen and ackowledge the problem. After all, the waiter said that the one guy is a new waiter and he does not know all the rules yet. He could listen and understand that in the whole process i did not see any signs and bords. Maybe he can the realise to move one or just erect another. He could acknowledge that maybe just maybe retrain or remind the waiters about the rule. He could have come himself at the first time and nicely explained the situation himself to me. This , maybe , would have eleminate all the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis place is "TOTALLY AWESOME" - not just their food; although they lay-out an enormous feast on two-very-long-tables that reach from wall-to-wall - approximately 20-foot-tables on two-sides of the room. It is in a serving-room set apart from where the guests actually eat. The waiting-staff serve whatever food you want, as you walk down the tables' edge. For example: their selection includes: hake, roast beef (which seems to be a favorite for Africans and some Americans - and the amount available to each guest is honestly enough meat to last for at least a week), and white-breast chicken in a Chicken-Cacciatore recipe made with onions, herbs, bell peppers, and a creamy-chicken-mushroom-gravy, which is NOT-TOO-HEAVY or THICK - rather it is absolutely DELICIOUS ! It was my personal favorite of all of the above. They have every vegetable, including an amazing beet-salad !!! That section of their table-display is TOTALLY AWESOME - VERY, VERY COLORFUL and INVITING. They also served pumpkin-mashed, Yukon-Gold-potatoes - small ones with melted butter, but still individual potatoes. Plus, rice-with-dried-tomatoes, and yams. They had plenty of š„ varieties from pastas to greens. š either sliced, huge specialty muffins in poppy-seed, blueberry, apple, etc., or regular biscuits. Of course, they had plenty of drinks, but their water was superior with š and a-bit-of-ice. Yes! Absolutely, the š's had butter, šÆ, or jam to spread for maximum enjoyment! Now. this was one of the best parts: if you had a reservation, you could choose to sit inside in one-of- their-classical-traditional-rooms, or you could sit outside under one-of-their-long-umbrella-type-tables. The other choice was to sit on their upper deck, the same level as the serving-room. We sat outside on the deck! WE COULD SEE ALL OF NATURE at it's BEST; plus, the performance was just down-the-stairs from where we sat, so we could see EVERYTHING on that LEVEL PERFECTLY and hear the music!!! I LOVED being out-in-nature, relaxing - not BEING-RUSHED-AT-ALL !!! The MUSIC was so DELIGHTFUL; I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! The singer had an enormously-gifted-voice and the accompaniment was exceptional, too. His choice of musical selections were superb!!! I feel like he analyzed his audience VERY WELL - his sweetheart came in during the last 30-minutes and sat next to us. She was a joy!!! I haven't mentioned the dessert, but it was excellent. With the dish of vanilla-ice-cream, you could order a berry-mixture or a chocolate-sauce; both, were freshly made. I cheated and ordered a little of both - I wanted to TASTE each one. MIXED, THEY WERE TOTALLY-DIVINE. TO TELL YOU the TRUTH, I ATE the WHOLE-DISH-OF-ICE-CREAM !!! FURTHER, I haven't ANY REGRETS about doing do. I admit however, that I still have food left over from the dinner, and I feel badly that I have not eaten it. Perhaps tonight ... At any rate after ALL of that, we changed our clothes, and went for a hike ALL AROUND for about two-hours. Again, we saw the impalas, š beasts, zebras, fabulous-birds, and the MOST-AMAZING-OF-ALL, we WATCHED EIGHT-OSTRICHES NESTLE-DOWN-for-the-NIGHT, which was one of the grandest-nature-displays that I have EVER-WITNESSED. If YOU LOVE NATURE and ANIMALS in their NATURAL-SETTINGS, believe me - THIS WAS NATURE-AT-ITS-ROYAL-BEST !!! Rademeyers is the RESTAURANT at MORELETAPARK . They are an ABSOLUTELY-FITTING-MATCH. "AS the OLD-VERSE-GOES: "YOU CAN'T HAVE ONE WITHOUT the OTHER." "Ya! YOU ARE RIGHT AGAIN; IT WAS FRANK SINATRA, that MADE THAT LINE...

We visited Rademeyers today after a short hike, hoping to enjoy a small bite and something to drink. Unfortunately, the experience left us disappointed and frustrated.
The service was below standard, and the food was just as unimpressive. After finishing our meal, we had to search for our waiter because he was nowhere to be foundāeven after standing in the lobby for some time.
While waiting, I noticed a wall display of wooden utensils. Out of boredom (and childlike curiosity), I lightly touched oneāonly to have the entire thing fall off the wall! It turns out the display wasnāt even properly mountedājust held up by a single 6mm fisher plug and poor workmanship, with a large hole in the wall behind it.
Instead of handling the situation calmly or professionally, a red-faced manāwho seemed to be the owner or managerācame storming down the passage, raising his voice at us and the staff. His tone was condescending, disrespectful, and unnecessary. While I admit I shouldnāt have touched the display, I expected a bit more maturity and basic hospitality. As someone with experience managing a 500-seater restaurant, I can confidently say I would never treat guests or my staff like that.
People make mistakes, and the true character of a place shows in how they deal with them. The manās harsh treatment of both us and his staff was unacceptable. No wonder the waiters seemed scared and unmotivated. If I had to work under that kind of leadership, Iād probably feel the same way.
This was my third visitāand definitely my last. Sadly, the food has never impressed, and the service is consistently poor. The only reason I believe this place is still open is thanks to loyal pensioners and those who canāt be bothered to drive to Brooklyn Village for better food and service.
To the man who shouted at us today: I genuinely hope you find peace, joy, and maybe a bit of humility. Life is too short to treat others the way you do.
With no hard feelings,...
