Dinner at Satori Linden, a rather strange awkward experience.... i specifically booked a week ago for the prawn special. The food was really good... the 1kg prawns were cooked to perfection mostly, some prawns were overcooked and clung to the shells for deaf life. The lemon butter sauce was fantastic with a hint of rosemary cant be faulted, even though lemon butter is not my favourite... the braised green pepper rice was tasteless in the main, rice not salted when cooked. I was on high alert waiting for the USA to invade my plate for the oil, the rice was far too oily. sadly the rice absorbed most of the lemon butter sauce, adding to the slush/ soupy feeling. the chips i ordered separately was perfection, beautiful hand cut and deep fried with the edges crisp, landed piping hot on the table which helped the freshly ground salt to latch on.
My partners Portuguese rump steak was cooked consistently throughout with perfect rendering of the fat and topped with a golden Sunnyside up fried egg. Desert was a generous portion of peppermint tart which my partner enjoyed, I tasted it and didn't like it. Wine list was kinda ok... we settled for a botttle Spier Shiraaz
Pity that our waitress was preoccupied and not attentive thus letting down the experience, never returned to our table after setting down the plates. Asked for more lemon butter sauce.. nothing delivered, had to seek her out to get water and extra serviettes. Spoke with after the meal when the bill was presented, she apologized. Tip paid. A decent meal but all in all rather strange space and experience... kinda awkward and contrived at most.. would I go...
Read moreGuest's security is definitely not a priority of this establishment. Hubby and I sat in the outdoor part of the restaurant, facing the parking lot - there is a tall metal fence as a separation - for a quick dinner tonight at around 18,30. We just received our drinks when our phones - both our phones - were snatched in a flash of a second from our respective hands. The guests next to our table actually saw the perpetrator - they were actually 3 people - sitting in the white sedan by the parking lot. The tall guy in a white t-shirt and a red hat grabbed our phones whilst the second person drove the escape car and the third person opened the back door for the thief to jump in. My husband fell and got badly hurt attempting to chase after them . It did not feel like an opportunistic action - the whole operation was timed and professional and they left us baffled, in shock, in physical pain and without 2 pretty new Iphones - my white t-shirt got covered in sangria as well through the commotion. Naturally so, I cannot recommend this restaurant as there are no preventive nether deterrent security measures in place . This "dinner that never was" has left us with more than a bitter taste...
Read morePopped past for dinner and in general the meals were good if you ordered pizza or pasta.
I tried the Trinchado special and wasn’t impressed by what I received. Basically a grilled piece of steak chopped into 3cm chunks and drowned in a flavour-lacking gravy boat. The chips on the side were undercooked and were sent back. The dish was underwhelming for R139 as once I had eaten the few chunks of grilled steak I was left with a bowl of gravy and nothing to consume it with, not even a piece of bread or a spoon.
When we arrived we stood around waiting for someone to seat us, eventually a waitress spotted us. My dissatisfaction with the meal and her special recommendation seemed the least of her worries.
The manager on duty was far too busy talking to his friends to come over to see how we were enjoying our meal and didn’t greet us once. I wanted to provide feedback on my meal but got the distinct impression that he couldn’t care less.
The live guitarist was the highlight of the evening as he was playing some Flamenco guitar. At one point even the young barman played a bit.
Sadly I won’t be...
