Northcliff Corner Shopping Centre — Local services in Gauteng

It is past its prime. Clean, except for the stairway , which is frequently badly littered. Several vacant shops. A really good Checkers on the first floor. A comprehensive ( high-priced ! ) bookshop on ground floor. A good barber, first floor. A watch and jewel bar, also on the first floor- honest prices. Free parking in the lot with the entrance from the Milner Avenue side access. Still a good shopping centre.Some really good shops. But floundering a bit. Exorbitant per metre sq. rentals. The Checkers liqour store on the first floor brings much trouble and danger and rowdiness , in Checkers 'greed for more money, at any cost ! Its not a bad shopping centre. But even from the first day that it was built, in the 1960's , it has apparently been under a curse. It is convenient , for us locals to shop there....

Northcliff Corner is like an institution. However, that is where it ends. It is not a nice institution.

It is difficult to understand why the property owners shows no interest to properly renovated the shopping centre as if is perfectly situated between Melville hub and Northcliff and Cresta. Location wise it has everything going for it.

The shopping centre feels dodgy. It looks dodgy and is not a pleasant shopping experience.

You won't find many franchises in the shopping centre and many shops are open. The gym is operating for many years. There is a busy nightclub which do justice to the shopping centre.

Ample parking as not many people visit the centre. Drive 2 km further and you at Cresta for a much better...

Centre is situated in an awkward spot in the area. Bit dodgy as there's not many security officials walking around. Parking is minimally secured with a non-paying boom gate and 1 security guard which is understandable in order to attract more customers for free parking but has negative side effect too.

The only awesome attraction Is the bowling alley downstairs which is a hidden gem as it's not too busy , a secluded area so you can have fun without being embarrassed at the pros at the popular alleys lol

Had a checkers but it has closed down not too sure why but can only make an assumption as to the small daily customer...
