Mugg & Bean — Restaurant in George

I came to have a birthday breakfast with my mom here. The restaurant has many healthy options which is vital for my mom as she has a very specific diet due to her health conditions. We both ordered the low carb breakfast which in advance, is really Devine.

My 5 star doesn't come from all the good things I mentioned above. Rather, it came from the managers amazing customer service. We asked the waiter to swop our spinach and tomotoe serving in the meal for a salad. The manager came back and basically said it's not an even swop and they wouldn't be able to do it. My mom asked if we could swop both our servings for one salad. The manager said that she thinks that could work and made it work.

Most places don't listen to your needs but she listened to ours and made a plan to accommodate us. It was a really good experience and the encounter made my moms birthday just that tad better.

You can paint me really impressed as it really stood out to me. I've been to other places where my mom asks to swop the chips for salad and they immediately...

What can I say. As a customer that visits a Mugg & Bean wherever I go, this one in the Garden Route mall is very disappointing. A week before we also visit and since my mother is using a walking aid we were sitting outside. Went to the door and asked for a menu. Menu's were delivered and that was where the service stopped. Today again we were sitting outside, ordered cremmechino's and I went to buy something at Crazy store. When I came back the drinks arrived and were asked if we want to order something else. The waiter said she will give us a few minutes as I didn't had time to look at the menu. After a few minutes when we were done with the drinks she came to take the empty mugs away. That was where the serviced end. After more than 30min still no service while everyone around us were helped. I wonder if they will realize we were gone if we just stood up and walked away. I don't think this M&B will...

The official South African inflation rate is 6% for the year to July 2024. A toasted chicken-mayo cost R57 last year. Now they charge R84 for the same menu item. Would seem that inflation at M&G is running at 47% p.a. Price gouging at its very finest. As for the food, the chicken-mayo was as cold as the plate it was served on. At least the chips were hot. Coffee was good. Not impressed.

Beind "sad" cannot, by a long shot, be construed to be of any positive use in this instance. Mine is not the first complaint about cold food at M&G George, and I don't believe it will be the last. As for the price gouging, it will be much more interesting if the owner responds publicly instead of hiding behind a one on one private exchange of opinions with me. I raised the issue openly, and expect M&B to respond in the public domain as well....
