Village Cafe Knysna — Restaurant in George

Okay food, terrible service. Decided to go here for lunch today, when we walked in we weren't even greeted by the waiter. I asked if we could still order food and he said yes as long as it wasn't chicken or mince (due to loadshedding), then 10 minutes later I asked if I could order a toasted sandwich and was told "no I don't think so, the kitchen has just been cleaned up". When I asked for the bill for our drinks and cake, I wasn't even brought a receipt, I was told the amount and then informed that the card machine wasn't working, which is something you tell a customer BEFORE they sit down and order, luckily I had cash on me. Very disappointed with the service I received, first and last time I will go here. The view, the carrot cake and the coffee was nice but not worth the unprofessional service we received.

We had a great time here. The lovely verandah sweeps your gaze over one of the most impressive views of Knysna and the heads. The cool breeze crept around the corner taking the edge off the heat and the kids had that fabulous shaded treehouse play area, boat swings, and the sprawling lawn to work up and appetite/exhaust them for the ride home. The menu has an easy, café style and enough variety for an easy choice. Excellent coffee, generous flavours, and a greatly tasty time. Their carrots cake is legendary. Lots of parking and plenty of safe places for kids to play. Therefor, a wonderful choice for a birthday party. Beautiful views with seating inside and outside. The menu has a good selection of breakfast, brunch or lunch dishes for both health conscience and Vegetarian people. Best of all, they allow small dogs. I really like the location.
