After a recommendation we had lunch here. It was a big disappointment. There wasn’t a board advertising ‘Catch of The Day’ as one might expect so we ordered grilled Bream from the laminated menu. It was very underwhelming, in Fact both my husband and I thought it was frozen and not fresh at all. If that was the case the staff should be trained to guide you away frozen offerings and suggest what was fresh in that morning. So, we also chose a small side salad each. When meal arrived we we presented with a tiny lettuce leaf and a sliver or onion. When we commented on the size of this ‘salad’ the waiter laughed and said yes it is a garnish! We couldn’t bother to complain but when the bill came we had been charged for two side salads costing £3.00 each. That a tiny garnish could cost this much was ridiculous so we did complain and then they admitted we hadn’t been served the side salads after all and removed them from the bill. All in all it was a pretty miserable experience. I think both the food and the level of staff training needs to be improved as at the moment it is poor. Another bone of contention for me was the seating. I have a spine problem so benches that provide no back support are v uncomfortable for me and I couldn’t wait to leave. I shall be avoiding all establishments with this kind of...

Please see respons from the owner: The truth of the matter. We were not rude. We requested politely that the children cannot run wild throughout the restaurant in-between all tables screaming and shouting. They had a rugby ball and as parents they needed to control the children which would impact on the other guests. This was unacceptable to them hence they left. We are a family friendly Restauarant, but children must be supervised. In 15 years we have never had an occurrence of this magnitude - running wild and out of control!

Note the last words: "out of control". This was his comments about innocent young children. We were a big group of people with many kids. All our kids are very well behaved. This is not a family friendly restaurant. This was our second time visiting with children the the last time the was also a problem because of the sand and the children so claiming that in 15 years you did not have a problem is an absolute lie. The owner is a grumpy man who wants absolute silence in the place, even though there is a kids playing area. However he missed out on a R5000 bill. We had a lovely time at Tapas where the manager were shocked that we were chanced away from this place. NOT RECOMMENDED FOR FAMILIES WHO LOVE...

TOP FISHERIES, Adjacent to Brito's Vleis Sentrum/ Meat Centre, Knysna. It is strategically situated approximately 100 meters from the public transport hub: The Knysna Taxi-rank.

I visited the TOP FISHERIES on 3rd May 2023.

There are plenty parking and wheelchair bays. Due to construction, the entrance is not wheelchair-friendly, for now.

This unique location is a must-visit for seafood aficionados exploring Knysna Freshline Fisheries sits quaintly along the banks of the Knysna River, offering diners a picturesque setting with serene waterside views. With a maritime-inspired ambiance and rustic charm, the restaurant invites patrons to unwind amidst decor crafted from driftwood and nautical elements. The menu boasts an impressive selection of fresh fish and seafood delicacies, from succulent grilled salmon to crispy calamari, catering to every seafood enthusiast's palate. Please try the Weskus Braai preparation, it's delicious! Notably, Freshline Fisheries operates without a liquor license, allowing patrons to bring their own alcoholic beverages. Despite this, they do not charge a corkage fee and graciously provide glasses, ice, and other amenities, enhancing the overall dining experience. Service is friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, ensuring guests feel well-cared for and providing insightful recommendations with a smile.

The dinner that my girlfriend and I shared at Freshline Fisheries was incredible. The food was excellent. The fish was so fresh and the food came out very quickly. Our server, Edgar, made our time there feel special. He has a great smile, and a very warm and welcoming presence. When we sat down, he just provided great energy that made our evening more enjoyable. He made a suggestion for me to try a fish that would work better for the braii, even though the fish was less expensive than what I had initially ordered. That was very nice of him to do so, and the fish he recommended was so good I will be dreaming about it. Edgar also cleaned some broken glass to the table next to ours that was done by other guests. He even stopped children from almost slicing their feet running around in the vicinity. It was extremely attentive and done calmly. From the freshness of the food, to our awesome server, and even the car park guard being so kind, we definitely recommend this place!
