Conchilla — Restaurant in KwaDukuza Local Municipality

Worst service I have ever received anywhere in the world.

Every time I wanted to visit Conchilla it was always at or almost at capacity - and I don't want to wait hours for stuff so I never ended up going until now. The place wasn't crowded at the time - so that was great for me.

The food was mediocre (the starter/snacks we had before we left). Drinks we top notch. Vibe was average - generic music and atmosphere that you can find most places nowadays.

Our table was given away while there were still items on the table. Some of us went to the bathroom and a couple went on the balcony - just 3 steps away from the table - looking at the view and in less than 1 minute our table was cleared and given to someone else. We looked confused as to what is going on and we were told we could get another table (next to the bathrooms) and it would be "reserved" for us. The place wasn't even at 50% capacity at the time. So I don't understand how this could happen.

We decided to leave immediately since it seemed we were not wanted there anyway. So we went to the main POS station at the bar - paid the bill and left.

[Walked to an establishment just around the corner (which I will not name) and got 5 star service as always even though they were quite full at the time... the food was amazing as always too😍.]

After looking at other reviews and my personal experience Conchilla, I would never come back nor advise...

This would have been a 5 star review however Conchilla let them selves down by allowing people's smoke to drift through the entire restaurant. The balcony is the "designated smoking area" however the sliding doors are left open and people can simply step 10cm to the one side of an imaginary line and the staff and manager felt that was ok and that their legal obligations had been satisfied.

When I brought this to the managers attention he admitted that he was completely unaware of his legal responsibility to keep smoking out of the non smoking area. This was further demonstrated when he and all his staff allowed someone to sit inside the non smoking area and vape the entire time we were present. Towards the end of our meal I pointed out to the manager the legal responsibility he has regarding smoking on his premesis and he seemed about as interested as a vegetarian at a butchery and simply said he would find the legislation online and inform the owners. It really is a pity that non smokers who make up a much larger portion of the population are firstly subjected to such inconsiderate behaviour despite the law and secondly have to forgo the ability to sit on the balcony entirely lest they be smoked all over.

The food was good and the service was great however if you don't want a side of cigarette smoke with your main course you should give this...

The location is great, on an upper floor with sea views The interior is a aesthetically pleasing with warm beige tones, it's fresh and upmarket. This place is great for Ballito weather, finally a mature but fresh and international spot in this area. It's giving Jhb Saint vibes. Please dress smart when you visit this place, dont be basic & decrease the standard!!! The menu is tapas and I enjoyed it, well presented. The bill was R800 for 2 people😳, dont ask me what we ordered😂 The crockery is great if you dont like eating from basic plates like myself. The cocktails are gorgeous and colorful. The staff is friendly, helpful & presentable in dress code. I went on Sunday during the day which was airy and not packed, they have a DJ. I believe it gets busy at night. Plenty but busy parking, as expected, it's by the beach🤷‍♀️ They offered Bottomless Blush for R200 from 13:00 to 16:00. It's a good offer but it would be great if they can do Bottomless Bubbly instead of blush. I'm bringing friends...
