This was rough. Both my partner and I had prego rolls. I had the steak (cooked in wine, beaten to shit and beautifully slapped onto a bun, just what I came for... #sarcasm) and my partner had the Crumbed chicken. Now what bothers me is she got lettuce, tomato, and her coco loco sauce, and I got some mayo-ee bun with my half dead steak on it. More disappointing is that I paid almost twice what my partner paid for the individual meals. I keep hearing how great Mozambik is, but after returning, im not so sure it's because of the food.
The service wasn't terrible. However, when we asked if we could move inside (due to being on a slope), we were told "sure" and kind of left to do as we please. We then ended up on the side of the restaurant where some seating was available only to find it looked like the waiters had left their stuff there on the chairs and tables, etc. No biggy, so we sat down and started chatting when suddenly we noticed a guy sleeping on a bench chair in the corner. We abruptly grabbed our drinks and condiments and made our way to the main part of the restaurant. Awkward moment for sure 😅.
At least that left us giggling.
All in all, it's a restaurant with a decent atmosphere. OK, food (if you stray from their staples) and interesting drinks.
It's worth a stop, sure, if you feel like a snack, want a beer, and smell the ocean. Plenty better places, though... especially one 5 min...
Read moreWe started supporting Mozambik Ballito when they were still an up and coming restaurant at their old premises across the road from Dolphin Holiday Resort.
We make an effort every time we come down to Ballito on holiday or even for a weekend to visit Mozambik as we’ve always had good experiences and value for our money when eating there.
Upon our arrival all the tables was booked in advance and we had difficulty finding a table. (My own fault)
Waiters friendly.
Starters: Garlic snails - too much cheese in the sauce and no garlic (snails(would have been even better with the garlic) and panini was nice though)
Main course: Mine: Portuguese fillet and chips Chips: Looks like it’s been reheated couple of times or prepared in old oil. Medium rare steak was nice and soft(shared half of it with wife as hers was completely overdone)
Wife: Portuguese fillet and vegetables Vegetables : Looks like stir fry veggies - not looking very palatable and not properly prepared(not crunchy but still raw) Medium Steak: Completely overdone and uneatable.
Tonight was really a bad and disappointing experience in relation and comparison to all our previous visits to...
Read moreI attended a group supper on the 29 june 2018. It was packed. We did have to wait about 7min to get seated but that was to be expected as we did not make a reservation. The vibes of the restaurant was so ambient. We ordered a starters plate which came with stuffed olives, chicken livers, calamari and fish cakes. Very tasty. To wash it down, we had the restaurants pineapple pinacolada which was so different yet so yummy. For my main, I had a sword fish with wasabi mash and coconut rice. This was THE BEST MEAL I've ever tasted in a restaurant by far!!!! Absolutely delicate fish infused in a garlic butter sauce. The combinations on my plate with the wasabi mash was such a hit in my books. And who would of thought of coconut rice?!!! Splendid! I would definitely recommend the food here to anyone. Not to mention our waitress was on point with her service. Thank you for an unforgettable experience which was my first time ever trying this restaurant. I will...
