Surf Riders Cafe Ballito — Restaurant in KwaDukuza Local Municipality

The view of the place is the only thing thats nice. We were greeted with a smile but thats it. Our drinks took long and after sitting there hearing other customers complain about the slow service I started wondering already.

Decided to get my bill and support somewhere else, wanted to pay, card machine was broken, had to draw money from Spar as the atm was broken (the only one close to the restaurant) staff cant even tell you please note we have card machine issues before ordering. Extremely slow service, I think its the slowest service I have ever received at a restaurant.

Waited 30 minutes after we sat and told the waiter to give us two minutes then we are ready to order.. Waiters are not experienced in my view. Needs some training.

Cant rate the food, didnt have the opportunity to order. Drinks was good and the view is amazing.

Waiter was friendly but service was lacking.

To us it felt like we were forgotten about at the restaurant. On the bill it stated when the table was opened, (what time) literally just before we got our bill the drinks were added to the bill which probably explains why we never got a waiter after telling another waiter to give us 2 minutes to decide what we...

We usually go to Al Pescatoré in Ballito as we've never once had a had experience there..but thought we'd try something new.

Arrived at approx. 12pm.

Table across from us had reserved sign and an older couple came to take a seat, only to have manager come inform them this table is reserved for friends of the owner. They argued that they don't take bookings, and we're clearly taken and understandably taken a back by this. They left.

We waited about 10 minutes for a drinks order to be taken. Waiter clearly not confident in order taking but I repeated the order and ordered a pizza for a starter.

Drinks and food was ok.

Then we waited for our mains, about an hour after arriving waiter comes to ask us what we ordered. He had taken the order wrong but I simply asked they should bring what they have prepared as we were hungry. He said food would be ready in 3 minutes.

About 10minutes later, and still nothing and we decided to leave and paid.

Had a fantastic dinner -highly recommend the poke bowls which are incredible - tofu/veggie/ chicken, or pizza - huge square pan. Also the veggie mushroom burger. Went back for an equally excellent breakfast, 4 of us, interesting vegetarian, vitality/health and also trad. options like salmon eggs benedict - all perfect. Enthusiastic service from Nomfundo, Mbali and Tk- Takunda. The hostess Lulu took amazing care of us. We later spent a rainy windy sunday afternoon playing board games eating zucchini fries and trying all the delicious juice mixes and beetroot almond milk latte. Their deck overlooks the beach, the menu has an incredible array of local South African, italian and fusion asian dishes, draught beers, even a doggie menu for furry family members.
