There are very few restaurants in South Africa (and yes, I do mean the whole country!) that tick all the boxes, and tick them well! Kuta - Kola is great value for money; their staff are incredibly friendly and super attentive, with floor managers and the owner actually helping and keeping a close eye on customers, rather than barking orders at waiters; the food is fantastic, quality produce, great cooking and good presentation- it's clear there are trained chefs tasting their food in that kitchen; the ambiance is lovely, the ocean view being the focal point with the managers making an effort to ensure you get a sea view even if it is later on in your stay- this is a huge plus and greatly appreciated by customers. We went 3 times during our stay in Ballito, having tried out 2 other close-by restaurants that were pretty terrible on both food and service fronts. Each time at Kuta-Kola was amazing. The only crit I have is the mojito wasn't quite up to scratch- but that's easily solved! Keep doing what you're doing- what a wonderful restaurant! Thanks for being a highlight of our holiday experience.

Casual little place overlooking the beach. Delicious burger, only let down by the terrible excuse for a bun. Cmon guys - do better! That patty deserves better! The Kuta Mayonnaise just soaked into the soggy mess that remained stuck to the plate, nonetheless losing stars for that fail. The Falkland calamari was tasty, however a scanty portion for the price. The Nachos were good, however again, too small a quantity of toppings. The service was mixed, we were greated by a guy who seems to need a real attitude check (unacceptable, almost walked out just because of his demeanor) but thankfully he didn't end up serving us, our actual waiter was pleasant enough. The view is great, but so is it from every other place nearby. This Kuta unfortunately pales in any attempt to replicate a the beach paradise vibe and hospitality of the actual Balinese Kuta, and has become typical of what to expect in Durban recently - failing to meet expectation!

We stumbled upon this hidden gem when visiting Ballito and were in the mood for some seafood but wanted a good view to take in the beautiful Durban sunshine as it was a lovely day out. We were surprised we didn't find this sooner and will certainly be returning. The team are very welcoming and make you feel right at home from the start. There is a nice cocktail menu and being out on the beach, we decided to try a refreshing Mojito & Seabreeze to start our lazy afternoon. The food options are quite tempting with a good variety on offer. We opted for the seafood, based on the aromas coming through as tables around us received their orders, and it certainly did not disappoint! The food was fresh and well proportioned with great flavor. Lovely lunch, highly recommended!

Kuta-Kola, Ballito – Ocean Views, Beach Vibes & Flavour-Packed Bites!

If you’re looking for a spot where the salty sea breeze meets fresh, vibrant flavors, Kuta-Kola in Ballito is a must-visit. Whether you’re upstairs or downstairs, the ocean view is unbeatable, making it the perfect place to kick back and soak up the coastal energy.

Ambience – 5/5

This place nails the beachside atmosphere. From the deck, you get an uninterrupted view of the waves, and the laid-back surf-town charm makes it feel like a little slice of paradise.

Service – 5/5

The staff are fantastic—friendly, efficient, and always going the extra mile to seat you where the view is best. Even when the place is buzzing, service stays on point, and the food arrives just in time to keep those beach cravings at bay.

Food – 5/5

I started with a freshly squeezed pineapple juice—ice-cold, naturally sweet, and packed with tropical goodness. Then came the real showstopper: the Asian Stack. Imagine a golden spinach and cabbage fritta topped with creamy ricotta, silky salmon ribbons, and a perfectly poached egg, all tied together with the umami magic of kimchi and soy-sesame oil. Every bite was a fusion of freshness and bold Asian flavors. If you love a well-balanced dish with a punch of zest, this one’s for you! Plus, the ingredients are locally sourced, and you can taste the quality.

Value for Money – 5/5

Well-priced, especially considering the prime location. You’re not just paying for a meal—you’re paying for the full experience of oceanfront dining, great service, and top-notch food. And trust me, it’s worth every cent.

Whether you’re stopping by for a leisurely brunch, a post-surf refuel, or just want to sip something cold while watching the waves roll in, Kuta-Kola delivers on all fronts. This one’s an...

So disappointing after all the great reviews this restaurant has gotten……

The only good thing about this place, was our waitress Nosi.

I ordered Kingklip & Prawns for dinner, only to find out there was no Kingklip, so I ordered the Hake/Calamari/Prawns platter for 1.

My food arrived, and after taking one bite of my hake i realized it was off ….. spoke to the manager on duty, he took only my hake from my plate onto a side plate and told me he’d check it and make me a new one. Surely you replace the whole plate of food?

I received a new piece of hake, and only the hake, cut into it, it was still completely raw. This is where I lost my sense of humor.

Again the manager took my fish, grilled it again. Finally I got a good piece of fish.

Our poor waitress did not know where to put her head.

Then the bill arrived, no discount, not even a free coffee or dessert offered.

Not impressed, went to pay the bill, where the manager was now speaking to his boss, in Pretoria Johannesburg…. He took the price of the hake and only the hake off the bill.

This fish made me so sick, I spent the whole night on the toilet !!

Needless to say we will never go back and not recommend Kuta-Kola to friends or family.

VERY...
