The decor and seating of this delightful restaurant is typically Greek, as one might expect from the name! The proprietor, Yanni, was inviting and friendly, happily providing the wifi password to allow us free internet access. All of the staff are friendly and helpful, and also patient enough to allow us the 60 minutes we took even before looking at the menu!! 😊 We ordered a selection of meze items, including warm pita bread, tzatziki, breaded zucchini fingers, dolmades (rice balls wrapped in vine leaves), spanakopita (phylo-wrapped spinach and feta mini-pies), fried haloumi fingers and meatballs in a tomato gravy, all of which was delicious. My host ordered a kingklip/calamari main course, his wife chose the lamb 'kleftiko' (known as "hidden" or "stolen" lamb which refers to the method of cooking adopted by poor and hungry peasants in the country to steal a lamb from the nearest flock and then cook it in an underground or covered 'oven' so that their position and illegal activities would not be given away to more honest neighbours/shepherds by means of tell-tale smoke rising from the fire!! To South Africans, it is a slow-cooked lamb shank!) and I opted for the prawn and calamari pasta, done in a tomato-based sauce. All 3 main courses were pronounced delicious. Our food was paired with a Spier white wine, Chardonnay, I think!!

That halloumi yiro was absolutely amazing, and don’t even get me started on the salted zucchini fries. Oh my lawd. Absolutely delectable! Pair that with the stunning view, and it’s a whole experience. I would eat here again and again if only my wallet could keep up! This is, without a doubt, the best place to eat in Ballito. The flavors are bold and beautifully balanced, and every bite feels like a treat. The halloumi was perfectly grilled, slightly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, while the zucchini fries had just the right amount of seasoning and crunch. It's clear that attention to detail is a priority here, from the food presentation to the taste. The ambiance is just as fantastic as the food. Sitting by the ocean, enjoying the fresh breeze and gorgeous view, takes this dining experience to another level. It's the kind of place where time seems to slow down, and you can just savor the moment. If you're looking for a spot that combines incredible food with an unbeatable location, this is it. Just be prepared to indulge because, trust me, it’s worth every cent. I’m already dreaming of my next visit!

If you're in the mood for excellent Greek fare and a cool beach vibe, head straight for Nikos in Ballito. So close to the waves that you could almost be surfing in them, this restaurant is all about high quality food at fair prices. We ordered grilled halloumi, a fillet steak yiro, lamb chops with fried zucchini and a whole cauliflower, roasted with pine nuts. Dessert was deconstructed baklava and warm bougatsa with coffee on the side. The halloumi was very good, lamb was great, zucchini fantastic, and the yiro was easily the best we've had in KZN. But the star of the show was hands down the roasted cauliflower... possibly the best thing we've eaten in Durban this year. A particularly satisfying outcome considering the weird look my husband gave me when I ordered it! Dessert was hard-pressed to beat the main course and the deconstructed baklava wasn't as good as the traditional soft-bottomed version. But the bougatsa was lovely, as was the coffee. A chilled vibe and good service added to the experience, all making for a meal so good that we didn't even notice the rain. Like Arnie, we'll be back.
