I was extremely disappointed with my experience at Famous Bunny in Ballito.

From the start, the service felt dismissive and impersonal. When I placed my order, the lady at the till just flipped the card machine for me to pay and then walked off - no receipt, no order number, no estimated waiting time. I stood around confused, but she went on to serve other customers.

I decided to wait outside, only to notice people who ordered after me getting their food first. After more than 30 minutes, I went back inside and overheard another customer being told the average waiting time was 15 minutes. When I raised that I had been waiting 40 minutes with no receipt, only then did someone go check. The same lady came out and casually asked, “I didn’t give you your order?” before walking away again. No apology, no explanation.

Eventually, a staff member handed me my food, but as I was leaving, the same lady rushed to my car window asking me to return the order because she “may have messed up the bunnies.” Still no explanation, no sorry. I had to wait again until she brought it back.

I ordered the mutton bunny chow for my wife and me. The presentation of the meals was truly amazing, neat, and presentable. When I received the bunny chows, they seemed to be quite heavy. Upon opening the boxes, we were pleasantly surprised to find that the owners did not skimp on meat and potatoes!

What makes a good bunny chow? Ample meat, potatoes, and oozing gravy! This was precisely what we received! The bunny was perfectly balanced in spice, neither too hot nor too bland. The meat was tender and succulent, and the potatoes were delightfully soft.

The staff is friendly, and dining here is quite affordable.
