Kansas Spur — Restaurant in KwaZulu-Natal

NEW REVIEW We went to Spur again today after Warren the manager called and apologised for the previous experience and I have to say... It was everything and more. We were seated at a comfortable table, they sang for my daughter and she was in her absolute element. She even ate all the ice cream this time. Thank you so much for redeeming yourself and making the experience so wonderful. Our food was perfect and the staff were brilliant. Noku2la was our waitress and she was really great, so friendly and informative. It was an overall terrific experience and I'm really grateful. I also spoke with Mlue a manager and I have to say it was like a completely different experience. Much to my disappointment. Yesterday, was my daughters 5th Birthday and I wanted her to have the spur treatment. When we were seated, we got a short menu, there was only 5 of us including her. She was not given the usual colouring sheets or Spur crown even though I made the staff aware its her birthday. We received our meals, which were fine. Time to sing and she received her ice cream during the birthday song. It was just so sad, we saw numerous kids come in after us receive these colouring sheets and crayons with the crown. Other children were served with Starlights in their ice cream. How do I explain to her why the other kids got and not her. Her ice cream was so melted, she didn't even eat it. We spent 2hrs, and our waitress made us feel like she couldn't wait for us to go. We wanted to order dessert but she offered the bill. Dessert was much to be desired. Before we left, i did help myself to the colouring sheets and Crown BTW. Overall disappointing, spur is no longer my birthday place...

It was my mums birthday and we decided to take her to a restaurant of her choice. She decided to go to spur. We had starters which was baffalo wings and crumbed mushroom. It was delicious. Then for mains my dad and I ordered a chicken schnitzel with onion rings and my mum ordered a pawn schnitzel. Firstly the chicken schnitzel had no taste at all it was bland. Normally when we order chicken schnitzel it comes with crumb onion rings. What we got looked like onion rings dumped in flour and then half fried. My mums meal came with 4 pawns on the top of the chicken schnitzel. Her chicken schnitzel also again had no taste. After eating we was looking for our waiter. It took us 20 minutes to finally find her. We tell her that we taking takeaway for 2 which was my mums food and my food. My dad left some onion rings and chips on his plate. She puts my mums food in the box. Then comes to put my food in the box. She takes my dad's left overs and puts it in my box with my food in it. Imagine if my dad left it cause there was something wrong with it. Then what? She didn't even ask if must put my dad's left overs in my takeaway.

I knew spurs food isn't tasting like how it was few years ago. But I didn't expect it to be this bad. Chicken schnitzel use to be so delicious. Now it's so bland gosh I can't believe what I ate was a chicken schnitzel.

The one thing that hasn't changed is the milkshakes. Bubblegum milkshake is still the best.

It's just so upsetting knowing that my mum didn't enjoy her meal on her birthday and neither did...

Not the best Spur. Waiters/waitresses seem confused as to who does what. No cohesion between them. One person seated me, another took half my order and then another lady came to take my drink order?? This is the first time I have come across this. The second waiter came back after about 15 minutes only to tell me that the drink I wanted wasn't available. Then he turned his back on me and started taking the order of the people who came after me, on the table opposite me, completely ignoring me in the process. I waited for about 10 minutes to just get the attention of another waitress who told me she'll send someone. Then another lady came to take my new drink order as I was still waiting (about 45 mins had lapsed by now). Eventually my food arrived. Food was decent. Steak was done according to my preference but was under-seasoned. Sides were good too. Overall a decent experience but this is far from the best Spur in Durban. The waiter who treated me poorly still got a good tip from me which, in hindsight, he didn't deserve to be honest. Won't be coming back...
