I had the pleasure of dining at Mozambique at Westwood Mall, and I must say, it's a fantastic addition to the mall's dining scene. This new restaurant boasts an incredible ambiance that exudes a fun and party-like atmosphere. The setting, complete with a DJ booth and even a designated dance area, makes it perfect for those looking to enjoy a lively dining experience. The fact that they offer live music on weekends adds an extra layer of entertainment.
One of the highlights of our visit was the cocktails, which were nothing short of amazing. They were expertly crafted and truly delicious, setting the tone for a great evening.
We also had the opportunity to try two of their starters. The Beef Trinchada, featuring grilled beef in a creamy sauce, was a standout. The beef was cooked to perfection, tender and not overdone, and the sauce complemented it beautifully. Equally impressive was the Calamari starter, which was both tasty and expertly cooked, avoiding the common pitfall of overcooked calamari. Both starters were served with rolls, adding to the overall satisfaction of the meal.
The staff at Mozambique were incredibly accommodating and friendly, going out of their way to ensure a pleasant dining experience. It was a nice touch to see the owners walking around, greeting customers and adding a personal touch to the service.
In conclusion, Mozambique at Westwood Mall is a definite must-try, especially if you're looking for a weekend chill spot with great ambiance, live music, and delicious cocktails. The tasty starters and attentive staff make it an all-around enjoyable dining destination that I would...
Read moreWe've visited this branch many times and always had great experiences, until our most recent visit.
Although the restaurant wasn’t busy (only 4–5 families seated), we waited more than an hour for our food. When the first meal, a steak …finally arrived, it was cold …and the mushroom sauce only came halfway through eating. Around 10–15 minutes later, the two chicken and prawn espetadas arrived. One was well-prepared and tasted great, but the other had just three tiny pieces on the skewer ….unacceptable for a dish priced at R190. This inconsistency, after such a long wait, was frustrating!
The waitress passed our complaint to the manageress, who only came to speak with us about 30 minutes later. She apologized and said she had contacted the owner. After another 20 minutes we were offered a 50% discount on one espetada. However, we were also told we shouldn’t have eaten the cold steak and should have complained immediately…a remark that felt dismissive, especially given the acknowledged staff shortage and delay.
For a bill around R700–R800 which, given the service and food quality, felt unreasonable. Sadly, after this experience, we don’t think we’ll be returning to this branch.
To be clear, this isn’t a criticism of the staff on duty, they were doing their best under pressure. The issue lies with poor oversight and lack of planning from the owners or those responsible for staffing and operations, especially during a busy school...
Read moreI had the pleasure of attending the Blast Before the Fast Comedy & Bhangra Night and what an incredible evening it was! The venue was absolutely packed and buzzing with energy, yet the staff managed everything so smoothly that it was a complete pleasure from start to finish.
The 3-course meal was delicious — every dish felt fresh and well-prepared, with generous portions that left everyone satisfied. Real value for money ! The comedy show had the crowd in stitches, and the afterparty vibe kept the energy going late into the night.
Even with such a busy turnout, the service was efficient, friendly, and welcoming. Not once did I feel neglected or rushed, which really speaks to the professionalism and dedication of the team.
Overall, it was a fantastic evening filled with great food, entertainment, and atmosphere. No complaints at all — just pure enjoyment. Mozambik once again showcased why it remains a top spot for dining and events! Can’t...
