Abeega Roadhouse Nelspruit — Restaurant in Mbombela

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING. I was returning from the Kruger Park with a group of friends and family. We stopped there. I wanted a toasted egg, cheese and tomato sandwich. That wasn’t on the menu but there was ham, tomato and onion. I asked to substitute the ham for an egg. I was told they don’t substitute and I had to pay an extra R10 for the egg. Ordinarily I would have left because of this sort of attitude but didn’t because of the others. I ended up spending almost R500. But they couldn’t accommodate a customer. With a substitution of an ingredient that’s less expensive. The manager was unfriendly. I said they obviously don’t care about business and he rudely replied that he doesn’t make the rules. Reasonably nice place that tries to revisit the nostalgia of roadhouses of the sixties and seventies. Not quite achieving it as they don't have enough window trays, making having a meal in the car difficult. The pizza topping is very nice, but the base is a bit toughand you need a sharp knife and a steady tray =catch 22. This is more of a nice takeaway facility where you could have a drink in your car while waiting for your food.

A Roadhouse has a unique atmosphere to it. It makes you think about the good old days when you could go with your vehicle and family to watch a drive in movie.

We bought cheese and bacon burgers with chips for two for less than R 200. The burgers were tasty and the portions were big.

The service was quick and friendly.

Lots of parking available.

Wheelchair friendly ablution facilities available.
