We visited Lupa Osteria and started our evening by ordering a few entradas to share, wanting to try a bit of everything. The food was really good, the highlight for us was definitely the Gorgonzola gnocchi, which was incredibly creamy and just melted in the mouth. The service during the meal was also great, attentive and friendly. However, the experience took a disappointing turn afterward. We believed the restaurant closed at 11pm, and around 9pm we asked the staff for help calling a cab since we weren’t from the area and couldn’t get a Bolt. Despite seeing our situation, the staff suddenly turned off the lights and began closing the place without informing us. They asked us to wait outside — essentially leaving us stranded. Then unexpectedly, a worker returned with a driver and offered to drop us off, but at a much higher price. It felt like they were trying to make extra money off of our situation, which was very disappointing and unprofessional. We loved the food and service during the meal, but unfortunately the way things ended left us with a very negative impression.

Starter - snails & gorgonzola were deliciously creamy. The gorgonzola cheese is quite subtle for those that aren't big on blue cheese. Main - Cajun chicken pizza - I died and went to pizza heaven. This was undoubtedly the best pizza I've had in South Africa. My mouth is still watering just thinking about it. The heat from the Cajun seasoning brings a warmth to your palette without burning it. Each ingredient works beautifully with the next and the pizza base/crust was perfectly cooked. Salad - Pear & gorgonzola - The only thing I didn't enjoy was the candied pecans. The pears are sweet enough and they pair beautifully with the saltiness of the cheese so I didn't need extra sugar. Service - our waiter was slow and it was difficult to find him several times. On 3 occasions we had to find another waiter to assist us.

We love Lupa's homely style food and set up and after a long drive we (as a family) opted for Lupa for comfort and assurance of good food. However some how this Lupa experience did not live to experinace and expectations (maybe our expectations where to high..?). My pasta was over cooked and had 4 different types of pasta in it. The water from reheating the pasta mixed in with the pesto creating some kind of new soup. The kids pizza had no flavour and the base was not fully cooked. The service was great, however the place was empty but some how they seated us next to the only other booth with customers who had a screaming child. Needless to say not the most comforting experience after a long day and hope they can improve to live up to Lupa standards.

I had the most terrible experience at the Nelspruit branch, Firstly I ordered the Lasagna which I love , but seriously I’s this the real deal? The Lasagna was burnt on the sides, so dry and tasteless and Honestly inedible, it was layer upon layer of the ( Mince) and sheets of pasta, No sauce at all , not creamy with a béchamel sauce, only mince and pasta sheets and the most chewy Mozzarella on top! Of course I complained and told the waiter, who was super understanding and I replaced it with your calzone, I told the waiter that the fact that manageress hadn’t approached me that it was unacceptable and rude, apart from getting the dirty looks from them , she approached the table with such a bad attitude and made me feel so embarrassed, Not apologizing just saying this is the Recipe from The franchise, I was so shocked and tried to communicate with her only to be met with animosity!!! When I arrived home and opened the box , what struck me was another dried out product, Tasteless, Dry and overdone, Overall my Experience was Very Very Disappointing !!!and I will never recommend , On the positive side my partners Steak was awesome, This is the third time I have experienced this situation but it’s now enough, I therefore hope you as a franchise can employ proper managers and a definite improvement on your Food!!! Just for the record I specifically frequented the restaurant for my Love of Veal and its never available!!!!! Sincerely , Melanie Colbeck.. Email:...

Excellent service, great food. Staff is very friendly and professional. They are always checking on customers. The staff is also good is also knows their menus very well. However I noticed a couple of things that could enhance overall dining experience.

Firstly, I observed some conversations happening in the kitchen near the food preparation area. Maintaining a quieter environment there might help ensure an even more professional presentation and focus on hygiene. Secondly, I noticed that some food items were being handled directly by hand (the bread sticks that are normally served as starters). While this might be part of the preparation process, using utensils or gloves would go a long way in reassuring customers about cleanliness standards.

Thank you for the great food, and I hope this feedback is helpful in making the experience...
