When you go on road trips most families will indulge in good old fashioned Wimpy (including me). This time I was a little more curious about one of my favourite spots being opened in Nelspruit. So when we decided to stop for something to eat and drink we could not resist Salsa Mexican Grill (Nelspruit)
Being lockdown it was obviously very quiet and sad to see only 2 tables with patrons. JP the manager and our waitress Anele were so helpful and friendly.
They have some funky new items on the menu. But first an R&R... it was hot ok 🍹
Then we ordered to share • The Bacon Jalapeno Poppers • Gordita's - Chicken marinated is adobo sauce in tortilla pockets with coriander, peppers, red onion and Chipotle crema. • NEW Puffy Patrón - a Deep fried Taco shell, adobo marinated beef, lettuce, coriander, red onion and sour cream.
All of it delicious. Those gorditas are amazing and those Poppers showed us 🔥🔥🔥
We were now ready to continue onto our destination.
Wishing them all the success and hope they get busier and stay open...
Read moreCaramba!!! This Mexican restuarant deserves more than a 5 star rating. The great vibe, great music, great food and greatest haaaapppeeeeee hour cocktail is a few reasons to eat there. After a jug of Strawberry Coconut who would not be in a very happy place? Really happy tastebuds. The El Chapo's Quesadillas was absolutely wonderful. 3 mini quesadillas filled with bacon and mozzarella, steak and veg, chicken and peppadews it was difficult deciding which was my favourite. Actually all 3 of them. My happy hour treat was a colourful bomb of rasberry mexican sky. As a special treat we shared the desert of taco pancakes. No words can describe the taste of chocolate mousse heaven with crunchie bits and stawberry cream with fresh strawberries. Please do not lick your phone screen when looking at my review photos. The dished are as delicious as it looks. Incredible!! Next time I am going to try the tequila train and probably end up doing the soul train line dancing ...
Read moreTerrible experience. My partner found a large piece of glass in his mouth after taking a shot of tequila. We alerted the waiter immediately. The manager took his time to come over and didn’t take the situation seriously at all, he rather joked about calling an ambulance and started awkwardly laughing.
My mojito was not a mojito rather a slushie which I couldn’t finish it, bitter and nasty.
When it came to getting the bill the waiter explained the mojito wasn’t on the bill, I thanked him as I thought this was an attempt at an apology however when he came to take payment he explained that we needed to add the 85 rand on ourselves because of a till error he couldn’t print a receipt showing it.. I don’t really understand how that’s possible.
We won’t be returning & I suggest the management take a course in damage control and how to deal with a health and safety situation...
