Essence. — Restaurant in Msunduzi Local Municipality

We were yesterday(11 November), and we received such horrible service and most of this is due to the person that was serving us.

Our meals did that take about an hour to get to us and my wings person were cold, and my steak was cooked medium even though explicitly asked for well done. However taste wise it was okay.

Back to our server, Lizeka or Liseka or something along those lines. She never even told us her name, we had to ask after a while of having to search for her, and that goes over to my next point. She NEVER came to check if we were okay or needed anything, NEVER. She come to the table next to us and then head back, not us. So we never we needed her, whether to order more things, ask for something, need her help with something we had to wait and look for her, most times I would just ask anyone i could make eye contact with. And this for us really ruined the whole experience.

Picture this: you and your friend (both young women) get to a restaurant. You're not welcomed to a table, contrary to others who come after you, you go to the bar to order drinks that amount to less than R60 to start off a 5 hour restaurant visit, and you're asked who will be paying the bill more than once, if you've come with anyone else and why you're here, and are still not offered a table after ordering. This was our first impression of Essence. We eventually had a very helpful and engaging waitron help us, Octallia, I believe, whose service was really good but that first encounter was enough to have us question if we'll return to the establishment. Otherwise, Essence has a cozy and comfortable atmosphere with food that is above average, however some employees will make you question if it's...

Food good, Service Terrible!

We went there for breakfast and the place was empty. We order a Forrester breakfast and Steak omelet. The food took 30min to arrive. The Forrester breakfast was delicious and the omelet was very cold.

We called for the waiter and we're ignored on the first attempt and after requesting service a second time the waitress that did arrive was unfriendly, didn't offer any apology or explanation for the very cold food and was just overall borderline rude.

We asked for the bill to leave and a different waitress arrived and she too was unfriendly.

Overall the food was okay and were it not ice cold it might have been excellent. However, the staff were unpleasant and ruined...
