John Dory's Liberty Mall — Restaurant in Msunduzi Local Municipality

Former fan but was very disappointed on Tuesday when I was served salmon sashimi that was bad. There was a distinct chemical/off aftertaste. I asked my fiancé to take a bite and he agreed. We did not demand anything in return, we merely wanted to advise the restaurant that the salmon was bad. The manager came to our table prior to the bill and said that he tested the salmon and it is fine. He offered to prepare another sashimi for us to which we respectfully declined as the experience put me off eating sashimi and I was not feeling great. What's sad is that he did not apologize and we were still charged for two bites of bad sashimi. The nail in the coffin was getting home with our untouched tampura chicken schnitzel, which we planned to have later that night, only to discover that we were given someone else's leftovers of calamari. I was disgusted but more importantly very sad at the way the situation was handled. Here's hoping that you take from my experience and train staff to handle these situations in way that includes 1. This is definitely the best John dorys that I have visited. The restaurant is always clean, staff are always ready to seat and serve you. The food is always fresh and delicious. They serve healthy portions of all meals. I have never had a bad meal here. I absolutely must say that the sushi here is divine, by far one of the best. I would highly recommend the prawn volcanoes, and the rainbow rolls. The prawn tacos were delicious, we also tried the chicken tacos, and the creamy mussels which were cooked to perfection and served with the softest, freshest bread. Several waiters came to our table, to either check on us, take an order or clear up, which is very refreshing to see, as one doesn't have to wait for their specific waiter to get something. Providing the best food, variety, and great salads. Excellent customer care. Offering popcorns on arrival, which does not make you feel guilty of gaining extra kilos while munching them, they are normally well seasoned. We ended up dining here for 6 consecutive nights. Their salmon salad is to die for. You can eat their food from Monday to Sunday, which I did during my 2 weeks of stay in Pietermaritzburg. Tried most foods in the menu, they also offer the best steak and veggies. Zanele is one the best supervisors/managers. All of the guys have the best welcoming way, the managers/supervisors keep checking if you are okay, you can't sit in your table for long without being unattended, they all offer the best customer serice.
