I chose to spend my valentines evening at this restaurant as the first time I went there I absolutely loved it. Let’s bear in mind though the first time I went there we were the only table in the restaurant so we were well attended to. Firstly waited 15 minutes for a simple passion fruit and lemonade. The people who came to the restaurant after us were served their beverages before us. The waiter came over and asked if I am looking for him as he could see I looked over my shoulder for him and I very kindly said I was just wanting to ask if he remembered our drinks. He then said that yes he does remember it’s just being made in the back. He walked away, went to the counter right behind our table, printed a slip and proceeded to pour our passion fruit and lemonade drinks in the front ,not in the back. Fine no problem, it’s a day of love I don’t choose violence over a coldrink. Our food comes and immediately I can see he has brought us a tandoori roti instead of a rumali roti. Whatever don’t complain just eat it. We immediately dish up our food as we were starving. Take a bite of my Briyani and it’s ice cold. At this point I’m paying R200 for a Briyani that does not taste anything like an authentic Briyani and is cold. I call him over and apologize for complaining but I don’t want to eat an ice cold curry. He picks up the plate, looks at me and tells me that doesn’t make sense because the plate is hot. I choose to be quiet and let him proceed to the kitchen to bring me a hot Briyani. Not even 2 minutes later he is back with the plate and miraculously our food is hot. He microwaved our Briyani and served it to us. I had one bite with meat, potato and rice and it was hot but the meat was tough. At this point I’m upset because the standard of your restaurant is to argue with customers and serve them microwaved food. Only 3 bites of the whole Briyani was consumed, 2 from me and 1 from my dinner guest. When he brought the bill it had 3 passion fruit and lemonades on the bill, we only ordered 2. Asked him to please fix it. At this point I said to him that we have not had a pleasant experience and told him everything that was done wrong during our service as I had only mentioned the cold food. When I told him I know he microwaved our food he laughed and said it was our fault the food got cold because we left infront of the fan for too long. The fan that they choose to have blowing on our table, but also as I mentioned earlier we immediately dove into our food once placed on the table. At that point I was just fuming because instead of apologizing and providing good solutions he blames the customers and argues. I will never recommend this restaurant to anyone, if anything I will share my experience I had with anyone who mentions an Indian restaurant. I had to pay almost R500 to only enjoy my butter chicken, not my Briyani which did not taste anything like a Briyani, not my tandoori roti which is completely different to rumali, and definitely not the attitude I received from your server. POOR POOR SERVICE AND...

We normally love this restaurant and frequently order on Uber eats. However the past two times we order a half tikka portion (which is perfect for my wife and I as it comes as two pieces) we ended up getting a quarter piece with chips. It happened the second time today and was slightly saddening since we had guests who wanted tikka so we ordered the two half portions and garlic naan, however again we received two quarter portion chickens with chips ( didn’t order chips ) and this meant it wasn’t enough for everyone. The tikka quality today was also p very dry we didn’t receive any of the green sauce with the tikka.

We really enjoyed the food form here many times before and are reviewing just to let the owners know to avoid this in the future, and also to keep the good quality which they have had over the...

Very disappointed in fact a disaster! 😞 Ordered a prawn starter and two mains: Lamb saagwala and a fish (kingclip) curry. After 45 minutes out starter had not appeared so we enquired to be told it was coming. Five minutes later the two curries were served so we said we wanted the starter BEFORE the main course. The prawns then appeared. The fish was the texture of rubber and inedible and the lamb was tough. We had no option but to leave and just pay for the drinks which the waiter declined apologetically. The reviews are very good so can only assume that it was the...

It was so lovely to visit this restaurant. Really cozy and all the management and staff are friendly and helpful. The food was out standing. Both vegetarian and meat dishes were flavourful and I was really glad we could choose the level of spice for each dish. One thing to note is that the bathroom is not in the restaurant itself but is not very far from the restaurant itself and was not a big problem. I look forward to dine with Royal Restaurant again. To enjoy the food and soft atmosphere.

I absolutely loved my dining experience here! It was my first taste of Indian cuisine and I was thoroughly delighted! The food was excellent with beautiful flavours and presentation (and loads of options to choose from). The staff is friendly and attentive, and I enjoyed the cosy, intimate and relaxed environment of the restaurant. It was an amazing first experience - a dinner out I would definitely repeat!
