What was meant to be a special farewell meal with our visiting friends turned into a frustrating and frankly unacceptable ordeal.

We had booked a table for breakfast and were the ONLY guests present, a quiet setting that should have allowed for attentive service and properly prepared food.

The food arrived ICE COLD. Not lukewarm, cold. We sent two dishes back and kindly asked that they not just microwave them.

Less then five minutes later, the food came back still COLD. Mushrooms turned rubbery, scrambled eggs were a complete failure, bland, overcooked, and lifeless, not even mixed properly.

At R175 per plate, this is not just disappointing it’s insulting.

The chef couldn’t even manage the most basic task which was to serve warm food. No finesse, no care, no pride in the kitchen. And to make matters worse, there was no manager on duty, no one to take responsibility, no one to step in and make things right. Just a casual “sorry” from the staff as if that could fix the complete failure of service and quality.

This wasn’t just a bad meal it ruined what should have been a meaningful farewell with our friends. I’m furious that we wasted our time, money, and emotions on such a pathetic excuse for hospitality. Shameful service, appalling food, and a total lack of...

My husband and I dined here on Christmas Day for dinner and we were not disappointed. From start to finish it was an amazing night. Our waiter,Thandali( sorry if spelt wrong) was fantastic… so friendly and super efficient. Informed us about every course and made us feel very spoilt. Once we’d eaten the dinner we asked for our compliments to be given to the chef and his staff . Chef Anvor Fortuin then came to our table to meet with us and talk about his incredible food , the ingredients and how it’s put together… absolutely amazing flavours. We decided we would come back on the Friday with family and we ate in the bistro this time ,we arrived to be met by Chef Anvor who had saw we were dining again and wanted to see us and gift us with a special treat . Once we’d ordered our food which was delicious once again ,we had oysters, bitte ballen ,prawn salad, chefs cut of meat and lamb chops ,Chef Anvor presented us with a platter of his own wagyu beef ,specially prepared with amazing sauces …. Absolute melt in your mouth . From the minute we arrived on both occasions we were treated very special and it was a highlight of our holiday . I would most definitely recommend a visit here as you certainly won’t be disappointed. Thank you for looking after us Chef Anvor we...

Horrible. Do not go there. Despite Covid, we ate amazingly at any othe estate. NOT HERE. Here, fine dining is not possible but the prices remain high. Horrible food that was disgusting and pre-prepared. No bread. No amouse-bouche. A disgusting, old salad without tase or dressing was served with old, cold shrimp that had been sitting in the fridge prior to our arrival and was served immediately after we sat down. Raw corn and hard avocados. It was a disgrace. I recommend Haut Gabrière or Cavalli in Stellenbosch instead. Fabulous food and service depite Covid and Prohibition. There you get your money's worth. Not here. We will spread the word that this estate is not worth a visit. Breakfast is also not served at the Boutique Hotel where it usually takes place. Instead, you must walk to the deli which is about 1 km away and then fight with the waitress about what you want to eat and how much. Despite paying 3600 ZAR per room per night, they wanted me to pick out either only eggs or only granola. Not both. Ridiculous. Don't bother...

Beautiful Estate, so many options from wine tasting, champagne tasting, oysters, nougat. The Deli had some lovely picnic snacks and the best thing was the friendly staff. Our attendent Brandon who took us through the tasting was 6 stars 🌟 Well........that was visit one we decided to go back a week later and it was such a let down. The tasting and picnic area was closed, some of the large pieces of artwork had been removed. The Deli was so busy that they were struggling to seat people and they were so understaffed the few waitrons that were there looked visibly harassed. People were getting up to ask for knives and forks, go to look where their food was and some just got up and left. I could go on, but I make my point I am generally very positive and give 4 and 5 stars which I originally did, but this 2nd visit left me terribly disappointed.

Part of the wine tram route, we stopped at Grande Provenece Estate to do wine tasting. We asked for the nougat and wine pairing and it was absolutely amazing. They have an absolute amazing pairing. Being a novice, the waiter explained everything carefully, not making our lack of knowledge obvious and explaining the process of the wines and how the tastes complement each other carefully. The atmosphere is beautiful. I would say that it holds the history and transports you back in time, yet it still has the sheer modern feel. There is a play area outside for the kids, and a galaxy to explore. The only problem we had was paying by tapping our phones. The waiter mentioned that this is a problem they sometimes experience with the cellphone tapping. My advice would be to take your card (we wanted to travel light for the tram experience).

Well, dear management team, good food, no, excellent food but … Adding a Standard Service Fee for a moderate Service is a mistake. Regarding us since we had given 10% you made a plus of 3-5% this time but you lost 100% of the next visits that had come. Thank you, but no thank you for that. To be honest, taking that decision from the customer might work for some but for others this is a no-go as you can see by this comment. And by the way you should mention that on your menu that you charge more then what is said in your „offer“. Again, stunning food, somehow maybe a little difficult to eat which fits to most fine cuisine but great taste and high quality. Service, moderate since we sat like 5-10 min. in front of our finished plates till they were taken. And the fee for that completely was inadequate.
