Visited Monneaux in March. we didn’t have the opportunity to sit outside on the fountain terrace, but this didn’t take away from our experience. The Manor House had its charm with the multiple rooms creating an intimate, homely atmosphere. This is one of few child-friendly fine dining options in Franschhoek, known as gourmet capital of the Western Cape. The thoughtfully curated children's menu goes beyond the usual generic options. In fact their dishes are on par with the adult selections, offering sophisticated yet appealing choices for younger palates. As a father of three, and foodie, this is most important.

The beautiful venue and architecture unfortunately did not make up for the shaky introduction and small portion of food - we ordered the gnocci which was was 6/10 if I'm being lenient. The cocktails were not professionally made either given the wide variety. However, our waitron made us feel very welcome and the overall service during our dining experience did eventually become better. Would not return.

I agree with the previous comments on the chicken prawn curry was more than I could ever hoped for. We found our lunch experience to be four star quality. Large portions complimented by perfect seasoning and presentation. Be sure to save time to enjoy the 5 course dinner with wine pairing. Offers you a chance to try a few wines that you may have not had time to visit for a formal tasting.

Our evening was a bit disappointing. The service started well with the waiter attending to us, but as the night progressed we saw less and less of him. The food, like the service, was underwhelming. The starter (fried camembert) was served with a lavish amount of leaves which led me to believe it was rather a salad than what was stated on the menu. The Gnocchi for mains was just about the highlight of the evening. Although the substantial portion was tasty, I felt that the chef wanted the dish to be too many things. I rather prefer simpler dishes. This brings me to the low point of the evening. The baked lemon desert was one of the worst deserts of my life. The pastry had an odd taste (maybe duck fat was used - definitely a no-no) and all the ingredients, from the sesame seeds to the buttermilk to the lemon pie, clashed with each other. Not a good desert and I would not recommend...

Very mixed experience: beef tartare was a sensation. That was it...sadly all else promised much yet came delivered to the table vastly underwhelming. The gifted home-made starter bread was tasteless (classic chef oops mistake: when a gift becomes a customer imposition). The duck liver was salty, otherwise flavourless, such a shame when this should sing as one of THE classic starter dishes for any Chef of note. However compliments to the pickled onion relish accompaniment: yum delicious, although not bold enough to exalt the pate in any way. The Mussels were drowned in thick dull cream crud...avoid: no heart; no soul. The potato gnocchi plate: fun plating design, however beyond that, really unclear of the dish's messaging: thick blobs of potato and tiny bitz of other stuff, which never hung or clung together in harmony. Such a shame: seemed pointless. Overall:...

Lovely restaurant with great service. We shared the duck parfait - very good. Small menu - I had the ribs - it was a tad smokey for my liking, but tasty. I had it with triple cooked fries - Lovely. My husband ordered the sirloin - bland and tasteless- does the chef know how to cook steak? Price tag for the steak around R280 - soooo disappointing. Don't put an item on your limited menu and mess it up. The first steak was overcooked, send it back and waited for more than 10 min to get another bland piece your steak. They surprised us with a small and delicious cheesecake for our anniversary - thank you, that was...
