Please save your money and don’t eat at this place! During my first visit to Tai Shan, I was amazed by the incredible quality of their sushi. However, my recent experience at the restaurant was disappointing. From the moment we walked in, it was clear that the staff lacked enthusiasm and didn't seem interested in providing a pleasant dining experience. The table we were seated at was visibly dirty, I wiped a small section down and the napkin was extremely dirty, which immediately ruined our mood. To make matters worse, the sushi didn't meet the high standards I had come to expect. The once fresh salmon now had a strong fishy taste, when I opened it up, I noticed that the salmon had gone bad. Chef and waiters didn’t seem to care when I mentioned it to them and they even got upset that I wouldn’t tip them for serving me expired salmon and not having any...

Thanks to the guys that have told me when I was stranded in the street because I was very very disappointed that I was told not to speak in a sushi shop and I was willing and able to be doing everything that I wanted to do at that time and I was eating very nicely, but when I got to Amanda and Anathi They treated me with respect they gave me a very nice drink to go with my sushi even though I asked for more sweets after that, the bill was to be paid and they give me the rights to pick up some more. Delicious Japanese sushi and Chinese cuisine options. Affordable with great specials. Some of the best dumplings I've had at a Chinese restaurant based in South Africa. Staff is welcoming and friendly.

In contradiction to other Chinese restaurants, Taishan has a very good vibe - perfect for date night or even friends going out for a drink or two at their in-house bar . They had a beer special - R50 for 2x500ml.

We paid R325 for 3 sushi platters (36pc), dumplings, 2 beers, and spring rolls. Delicious!
