It’s for the views and nothing else. Did a corporate dinner and was not impressed at all.
Walked in to a beautiful restaurant with stunning views of the seaside. Amazing layout, gorgeous decor, perfect night out vibes.
Was seated and waited 15 minutes before we were given menus then waited longer so they could find a wine list. The table was in an area with almost no lighting or heating and given that we visited at night not even the moon could help.
The bubbly & oysters were a perfect start. 6 fresh oysters and 2 glasses of bubbly for R180,00 was a great bargain and did not disappoint. Ideal to start a stunning night.
The seafood platter was next and the only thing with any flavour were the fish and prawns, everything else was just bland. The muscle pot was drowned in floured white sauce that tasted as basic as it looked, the chips were saltless and tasted like it was fried using a paraffin stove.
It later came to our understanding that it was half price sushi night. So the cooking skills clearly went to the sushi whilst the rest of menu fell flatter than 2stars.
The last course was dessert and I was as equally disappointed with their sorbet trio. The only thing with flavour was the mix berry. The other two flavours were a game of “guess that frozen slime” it lacked taste and was gooey which is not what sorbet is at all.
To end the night of beauty, bubbles, blunders and bad news. The prepaid booking which we had done the day before was not noticed. So at the end of the evening a card machine was brought to the table with the bill and when we notified the waiter of the prepayment she informed her manager who came to us in a very accusatory state and then got on her phone with her manager and proceeded to very unprofessionally have a conversation with him at our table in full listening range.
Needless to say they did not check their payments or reservations properly and handed the entire situation poorly. The odd thing is that our table got such weird treatment whereas other tables had offers to put on heaters for them, apologies for mishaps and a good vibe.
The icing on the cake was having to go to the bathroom only to see an open stall that was not flushed and cleaned properly and so I had to go into a different bathroom.
I left both disappointed and annoyed, definitely...
Read moreMy family and I visited the Sunday breakfast buffet to celebrate my sister and her new husband's wedding, which had taken place the evening before. I had one plate of food, which included eggs, sausage, toast, and bacon. After finishing my meal, aside from the bacon, which I gave to my partner, he began eating the bacon. As I was about to clear my plate, I noticed a cockroach lying exactly where the bacon had been. It appeared to have been fried, suggesting it had been cooked along with the bacon and plated together. I immediately called the waiter over. However, her response was surprisingly indifferent, showing little concern or shock. She informed the head chef, who was overseeing the buffet at the time. Despite the seriousness of the situation and the fact that we were a group of 15 guests, the head chef made no effort to approach our table or address the issue directly. Eventually, the manager came over to apologize and informed us that the bacon would be removed and replaced with a fresh batch. To our disappointment, we were still billed in full for the meal, including additional coffees, and no form of compensation or gesture of goodwill was offered in response to what was clearly a health and hygiene issue. Beyond the incident, the buffet itself was underwhelming. The food was cold, and the coffee lost its heat just walking from the station to the table. The variety was also quite limited; for example, waffles were served with only one type of syrup and no optional toppings such as cream, fruit, or sugar. Given the prime location with beautiful views of Table Mountain, I had expected the service and quality to match. Unfortunately, this experience fell well below those expectations. I chose not to escalate the matter at the time to avoid affecting my sister’s special day, but the discovery of the cockroach significantly iimpacted my dining experience and left me without an appetite for the rest of the day. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and used to improve both hygiene standards and guest service...
Read moreMy husband booked a table for us for 3pm on 14/02/2023. We were welcomed by a really friendly hostess. Then our waiter came, very ubrupt in speaking, no introduction asking if we'd like to order drinks. I just looked at her name tag that said Maggie. We ordered drinks, the vase was missing from our table, I didn't think anything as I thought it's a small table, having more space is probably good. Then we ordered starters, it was brought, she never checked in on us. The empty plates would stand on our table for a while. The wine glasses, still stood after we ordered soft drinks. I asked her to take them. She started having attitude, by the time we finished our mains, I was done. I couldn't even finish my meal. I asked for a take away box to take mine home. The lady that brought the take away box seemed like the manager, she still asked if everything was okay. I said I'd like a take away box please, again all empty plates still on our table. Then all of a sudden Maggie appeared. We were the last table left in the section we sat as it was late afternoon, so she couldn't have been busy. I was really disappointed in the service, we were looking forward to enjoying a lovely afternoon at a nice restaurant but that was our experience. We wanted to order desert but the way she said the trio of sorbet is not available as it was just for loadshedding put me off. My husband then asked for the bill, I paid the bill & gave her some feedback which she didn't expect, to which she said she has been working there for a while, so it's the 1st time someone was unhappy with her service. She then proceeded to enter the wrong amount in the card machine, then as we left she ran after us saying the bill is short. My husband then gave her cash as she misread the total I wrote down on the bill. I don't know which industry she belongs in but being a waitress isn't for her, either that or she just didn't care about providing good...
